TOOL TO HEADLINE LOLLAPALOOZA?

According to Consequence of Sound, the best band in the world, aka Tool, are going to headline one night of this year’s Lollapalooza. Now a 3-day festival, this year’s event is set to take place August 7-9, 2009 in Chicago’s Grant Park. It would be Tool’s 3rd time at the festival, having played on the touring incarnation in 1993 and 1997.
Of course, nothing is official, but according to Mr. Leaky Faucet himself, aka The Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot, “multiple industry sources confirmed” the much speculated rumors during last week’s South by Southwest.
Time to book a flight to Chicago? We can only hope that this won’t be a one-off and Tool will add more dates. I CANNOT possibly be expected to wait until 2010, possibly 2011, to see Tool perform again.

No, I won’t have this…this band will not invade my city again. I will not stand for them moving up from taking 99% of q101’s airtime to 100%…enough is enough. I’d start a petition but I’d need a Tool fan’s math skills to tally up the votes.

The best band in the world? RIIIIIIGGGGHHHTTT. Metalsucks just knocked itself down a notch by joining the tool “fan circle” that cant understand why everyone doesnt think tool is the best thing since boob jobs. Good band, but i lump the hardcore tool fans in with radiohead fans. Snobs, that consider themselves better people for liking what they like.
I think alot of these people actually force themselves to listen through an entire tool album secretly hoping they will “get it”. Its like some sort of weird masochistic ritual that has taken over their brain in an effort to join the secret math metal nerd cult.

I do like Tool, I admit. Cause they f’n rule basically. But some fans are nerds, I do admit. Like myself for instance. I also recently discovered there was music made prior to Tool existing. You guys should look it up, some stuff even sounds like Tool! OFG!

Tool is due for a new album and i would love to see them live. Hopefully there is a tour this fall.

Id consider myself an old school tool fan. first 2, unbelievable. I appriciate it all though.
And all the talk about tool fans being ” snobby” and pretentious becouse of what they listen to…..hmmm….have we taken a look at metalheads? I mean, a lot of metalheads wouldnt even consider things other than metal to be music. Show them a decent funk\jazz\blues\rap song, they shit all over it.
I gotta agree with Kevin Lollapalooza is going to be shit even if my favorite band is playing it. Really though the Tool haters can just suck a cock I won’t bother how pathetic it is to jump on an anti-bandwagon bandwagon. They’re amazing musicians who have crafted some of the best albums to ever come out, ever. If you hate them that’s fine but insulting people for being fans is just boring.

Tool is a good band, not the best ever. You dont have to be an asshole to like em. and at Mewis, Ive never forced myself to listen to a tool record, I dont care if I “get it” I just like the music. fuck the tool haters and the people who claim that tool perfected music. they are just a fucking band. a good one.
