AS I LAY DVDING

I’m extremely curious to see it because, for whatever reason, I don’t feel like I know very much about these dudes as people. And that’s why I love these documentaries that are getting release so frequently these days; as much as I love, say, Chimaira’s music, watching their DVD The Dehumanizing Process made me feel like I really understood each member as a unique personality. And I think that’s invaluble – and a definite advantage that this generation of bands has over their elders, who didn’t come up in a time when making these sorts of things was easy and cost effective as it is today.
But back to that As I Lay Dying DVD: here’s a clip, where the band discusses one of their first big tours, as support for the aforementioned Chimaira (remember when Mark Hunter had dreads?). Consider me enticed…

Sweet. I do love me some As I Lay Dying. Very few bands (in my opinion) continually top every album with the next one, but every latest AILD album has been the greatest so far. Looking forward to the DVD.
I was actually at one of the shows this was filmed at (the Grove in Anaheim, CA) and it was great. They’re not my absolute favorite band (I went for Born of Osiris) but I do enjoy them a lot, and the connection they have with their audience is great. I just might have to pick this up…
I feel that As I lay Dying gets overlooked because they have been tagged Metalcore. While that is an appropriate tag I guess, the guys put out some heavy music. Jordan is one of the fastest drummers out there, but they all seem down to earth. I think I’l be buying this dvd.
AILD may have been birthed from the core scene but they have evolved into just a solid metal band period, I fucking hate the winey pretentious shit heads that talk about these kinds of bands like they are some passing fad even when they have been around for years and have multiple successful albums.
Not that into their music, but I’ve always thought that this is a really cool music video

I was into their music when I was a bit younger but slowly lost interest as my tastes changed. I definitely think they are a solid band though, and judging by what I saw in that video clip they seem like a solid group of guys. I’ll probably give their newer stuff a listen when I get some free time.
@dthrasher: That video sucked, chick shoulda died. I love their music, but that video was utterly lame.

Generic Live video
that facial hair…oh my god….
Word. I agree with Joe and THE CARL. I always thought it sucked that while they are essentially a christian metalcore band, they get lumped in with all the other christian metalcore bands that actually kinda suck. As I Lay Dying definitely needs more recognition as a stand out group in the genre.
The only two “Christian” metalcore bands worth shaking a stick at would be AILD and Zao. There are others like August Burns Red but I don’t really think of them as metalcore.
AILD have been lying around dying for to long now why dont they just hurry up and die
