FOR THE FIVE OR TEN OF US WHO STILL CARE, HERE’S SOME NEW MARILYN MANSON MUSIC
Friday, March 27th, 2009 at 10:03am by Axl RosenbergI understand that most readers of this site hate Marilyn Manson, and from a certain perspective, I understand why. But Manson is one of the last consistently decent purveyors of pop metal, and, well, some days I loves me some pop metal.
That being said… these two new Manson leaks from his forthcoming The High End of the Low are just terrible. I think that most fans were hoping that the return of Jeordie White Twiggy Ramirez to the fold would mean the return of the rock to Manson’s music – something a little more in the vein of “Irresponsible Hate Anthem” – and this just isn’t that. Which might be fine – personally, I like the Twiggyless Manson albums – but these songs are weak.
The first one, “Arma-God-Damn-Mother-Fucking-Geddon,” has one kinda funny lyric (”First you try to fuck it, then you try to eat it,”), but otherwise sounds like some third rate hipster bullshit; the second song, “The Wow,” is pretty much just a stright-up rip-off of NIN’s “Only.” Seriously. It’s stupid.
Here are the songs. A third, “We’re From America,” will apparently be avail for free download from Manson’s website later today. Although, after hearing these first two songs, I’m not very excited.
“Arma-God-Damn-Mother-Fucking-Geddon”
“The Wow”
Thanks to long time MetalSucks Maniac Kye for the tip!

havent listened to MM in a billon years, but have to agree with you on the first paragraph. sometimes just a guilty pleasure when you set the playlist to random.
I’m a big Manson fan….but yea, these songs are total shit. He really hasn’t done anything of note since Holy Wood.
Maybe the song coming later today will be better
God, it’s like he’s not even trying
I think it’s funny how ‘the god of fuck’ is a lot less intense than he was when he was first on the scene, What was cute then is just gross now…I’m sure the music sounds this way because he’s totally tired…they should call the new single ‘coke bloat’.
I kind of like “Arma God Damn Motherfuckin Geddon” but I didn’t listen to the other 2.
I still think “Beautiful People” was his best song
Marylin Suckson… I don’t give any f*ck ’bout him.
Anit-Christ superstar is still his opus, that record was brilliant… back when I was sixteen. Afterthat he kinda went mellow and lame, I still have a soft spot for the track Tourniquet though.
This sounds kind of new-wave-meets-NIN-meets-Beck…. not his best, but I dig it.
I agree though, the mid career stuff is WAY better. “Beautiful People”, “Irresponsible Hate Anthem” and “Fight Song” still make my playlist…
I made it 17 seconds into the first one, and 47 seconds into the second one. The second one isn’t three times as good as the first, it just takes a lot longer for something to happen. When it does, it’s just as bad as the other song. He really, really sucks.
(the) Wow. That sucks.
For the record, these leaks are old mixes. The final songs will sound entirely different. (This is according to Rudy Coby, who has close ties with Manson)
So don’t pass judgment just yet.
I like his songs more for the lyrical content than anything…..not huge on the whole “pop metal” thing. Most of the trendy radio songs from him aren’t the really good ones, though, and most of those aren’t really (to me, at least) pop metal, more like sludge than anything.
New stuff has pretty much been consistently meh.
Looks like he’s trying to cop the Heath Ledger Joker look in the first one.
They were pulled from youtube. Shit.
There’s apparently some big rumor that these tracks either aren’t mixed or that only the vocal part is authentic. Which could be possible given Manson’s description of what was coming and what we actually got.
Personally I enjoy the songs. They grew on me after a few listens.
I’m fairly excited to hear what his official release sounds like.
I do not like what MM has become, but Antichrist Superstar was like a revelation to me in 4th grade and def helped set me on the path to listening to real metal . . . still have that fucking album in my ipod, lol.
I didn’t initially like the new stuff, but I have to agree with Kye. After a few listens, I really quite enjoy them.
I think the three new Manson songs are great songs. Manson is about evolution and he never sticks with the same sound as he evolves. His music is timely, but at the same time he holds steadfast to his original style.
@Cisco: wow on the tourniquet me too. love that song still. i think manson was at his best during his first album everything else was either trent, a good cover, or shit.
These songs are kind of middle of the road, but his singles usually are. The only singles he did I thought were worth half a fuck were “Fight Song” and “mOBSCENE”. However, I think that releasing a single called “Arma-God-Damn-Mother-Fucking-Geddon” is pretty sweet.
Also, this guy turned in demos to his label of songs like “Third Nostril” and “Baboon Rape Party”, which were 13 minute noise collages that people thought were his legit songs when they were leaked; also, he did a sneak preview EP for Golden Age Of Grotesque which featured a bunch of cock rock songs that were not included in any way, shape, or form on the album (they were, however, totally tits). So this might just be more of that.
I’m a really big fan of Twiggy and I’m very excited about listening to the entire album, but I have to admit that even if they’re trying very hard to do what they did in Antichrist Superstar, they aren’t.
But, well, the songs I’ve heard yet are WAY better than those of Eat Me, Drink Me (that record was total shit).
These “High End Of Low” songs aren’t my fav in all is career but I do like ‘em. Let’s just hope the final tracks will be a bit more Manson and a bit less pop.
I didn’t listen to the songs… because MS is gay and linked to youtube videos that have since been removed.
Emm, I don’t like him, but on this videos he looks just a little like Michael Jackson (a few years ago). Emm, whatever, maybe it’s just my eyes… hmm, but his face is like on the second video really looks like Jackson or other poprockstar in his style… Whatever.
We’re calling Marilyn Manson a metal band now? The only albums that were remotely metal were ACSS, Holy Wood, and Golden Age of Grotesque, and they’re BARELY heavy in any context. If anything Manson is basically just a heavier and more in your face version of David Bowie.
