The only thing I have to say is at least he’s only hurting himself and not “exerting control over his life” in ways that affect functioning people who cope with life like they should.

I don’t think this is the worst thing I’ve ever heard. In fact, in most local metal scenes there are a ton of bands that sound like this, with the growls and shit and the done-to-death riffs I’ve heard played by a dozen other bands.

I did think Whitechapel could get any worse. It’s just plain boring deathcore in my opinion. I thoroughly believe in supporting bands from Chicago, even if its a little bit, but I can’t do this with Oceano.

Ya know, you guys sit at your computers just trash talking a guy I went to middle school and high school with. I grew up with Adam, and go ahead and make all the jokes you want (cause you’ll probably call us faggots or what not since that seems to be the homo-erotic thing you guys do/ must be some sub-conscious stuff going on there), but the bottom line is, they must have been good enough to be signed to EARACHE records, and they’re living a dream that half of you can’t accomplish. You can say you like them or not, or give them constructive criticism, but to trash talk them? They sound better then about 90% of the bands out there today. Props to them, and they kicked ass with Vital Remains. Tony and the rest of Vital only stood up and watched Oceano at the Doug’s Rock House show I went to. To get Tony from Vital Remains to stand up and ONLY watch your band must mean something. Keep it metal Oceano!

Pretty generic, but I wouldn’t say I really really hate them. I was almost expecting him to break out into a singing chorus, ha. Kind of like a ripoff of all the big metalcore bands. This trend will die soon.
I only like two “deathcore” bands: Suicide Silence and All Shall Perish.
This band is why. The rest sound so boring and computerized.
This guys “higher pitched” vocals sound like Howard Jones on that promo video they put out where him and Adam described the songs and then made noises.
revolver gave this album 3.5 stars… the lead singer looks like he can kill any of you… most of the comments are about band looks… if you bitched about it being generic listen to grindcore if you want something different and at least one of the band members is a jew so suck it axl rosenberg… for now I will swim in this OCEANO.

The music is deathcore in the Whitechapel sense, not done too shabbily but not anything that says “give me a third spin in your car”, so probably five or six out of ten, at least I could sit through and entire listening(which like some of the people above said is more than I can say for a lot of the “amazing” bands hyped on this site). The problem with this video is definitely the clothing and the lifeless pose the band stays in during the entire thing. It’s a video for gods sake, you try to promote yourself throught this, make people interested. Well, if you like Whitchapelish deathcore you’ll like this.
BTW, a lot of friends and family or whatever like to come here and spill their guts all over people who bash the MUSIC of the band. The truth is being a nice guy has nothing to do with the music you make, I mean I tell a my friends their band aint that great or their new song sounds like freaking ripoffs a lot. So what? I’m not bashing them, I’m saying I’m not a big fan of their music. It’s two completely different issues. And stop using the “they got signed youre just faggots on the web” argument. If you want to see everything in this perspective, you can never say a movie sucks, a professional sports player sucks, the food at this place is shit blah blah blah. I don’t see any of the critics making like 20 million a year playing basketball or making a movie.

Fuck AC/DC and their three songs? How bout fuck every death metal, metalcore, and deathcore band and their two songs. Bon, Angus, and Malcolm are the greatest songwriters of all time compared to most metal musicians.
The song Night Prowler by AC/DC will kick the ass of any metal song ever made. It’s the heaviest, darkest, scariest, and most intense song ever made and any metal band trying to reproduce something of that chilling quality should quit. Night Prowler is heavier than heavy metal.
AC/DC is not metal. They’re pop, and bad pop at that. They suck, and do not deserve mention anywhere. This is a fact.
@Eirik: i think you’ll find the whole drum kit isn’t ezdrummer at all. they drums were recorded and sampled replaced with slate samples.

The best song on the album is the instrumental imo (Depths) .. that’s not saying much though.
This band is boring. As a black guy who performs as a metal vocalist and lives in the Chicagoland area, this guy is a disappointment. His vocals are bland and indecipherable. Not “if only I had the lyrics I would be able to understand him” indecipherable. He’s like “Even if I had the lyrics under a microscope and slowed the track down, I wouldn’t know what the hell he was saying.”. Which is just a sign of how half-assed people can be about EVERYTHING musical these days.
The musical composition is contrived and doesn’t bother to show any reason WHY we should pay any attention to them. Everything they play is by the book generic deathcore, which goes to show you how good the book is. According to someone in the comments section, we should respect them because they got signed to Earache. Which is bullshit, because Earache, as well as numerous other labels past and present, have signed shitty bands before. This is nothing new and will never change. Where you get signed does not determine how good your band is. It’s all horribly uninspired, all of it.
Another thing that I’ve got a problem with, is with dude. C’mon, what’s the deal with the “I gotta shit” headbanging at 2:51 and the weird, stiff movements earlier on in the video? I mean, its like you were demonstrating how to rape someone and subsequently plop a Cleveland Steamer on your unwitting victim. I mean, I know how easy it is to not noticed when you’re looking stupid, but…c’mon, dude!

Predictable….boring…..over-produced…..I’m having a hard time finding anything good about this band.

Sometimes predictable is fun, and as long as a band understands that their music isn’t about impressing virtuoso musicians and their (self described) virtuoso fans, there’s no problem.
I play drums myself in a metal/deathcore band, not because I’m trying to solidify my spot as best drummer in CT, or impress anybody, or write needlessly complicated music…I just want to play music that is fun, that hits hard, and that gets people energized.
If sounding like another band were a crime then 90% of bands (good and bad) that were out there wouldn’t be in existence. Its just adding your own twist to something that is already there. The majority of bands from the 80’s, including shitty AC/DC, all sound the same too, save that AC/DC’s singer sounds like he just got punched in the nuts AND the throat.
I’m not saying Oceano are gods of metal, but its solid enough to grab the interest of enough people…though those people may not be the large amount of washed up 80’s metalheads that post on this site.
I must say, I’m really digging the production. Puts em ahead of most of the DeathCore bands in that vein. But hey, I also sorta like Emmure, and Winds of Plague, and Brokencyde…

Super boring, bog-standard deathcore. It’s executed ok, but the whole thing is one big breakdown.
I understand where people come from when they say deathcore is shit and all that , but you can’t deny the dudes in this band have talent.

I like Oceano for their drummer and thats it to be honest… and i know he plays just like any other deathcore drummer… but he plays very well and very tight. Also his cymbals sound great.
