Is it just me, or have Mark’s vocals lost a lot of their bite? Listen to something like Resurrection, and then listen to Secrets of the Dead. Something’s missing. Venom Inside (the original 30 second promo we got) still sounds good, though.

I love Chimaira, and am excited for this album, but I was very discouraged when I saw it received negative (or mixed) reviews from at least two publications (one being Decibel, 6/10) I tend to trust and agree with. I hope I will disagree with these reviews.

I am psyched. Oh, and as far as the whole power metal thing with the first song goes, my favorite songs off of All Shall Perish: Awaken the Dreamers had power metal riffs/ vocals in them.

I listened to those samples too and honestly, i wasn’t impressed…it sounds like another metal album rushed to meet record contracts…everything once again just sounds soo generic…this is one of my favorite bands…i really hope i’m wrong and amazon only played the shitty parts of the songs…

I totally agree in the past yr or two the NWOAHM releases haven’t lived up to any expectations i have as well…give crack the skye a listen…its more prog/rock then metal but it’s totally a great album

the earlier NWOAHM releases this year haven’t lived up to my expectations (maybe I got too hyped over them or whatever especially GF), haven’t given crack the skye the good listening mastodon deserves, so disappointed so far about what was supposed to be such a great year,therefore really hoping this album kicks ass

As long as it’s better than the last album (really didn’t like it at all, especially the “death/gore metal experiment” last track, I think it was), it’ll be good. If it’s as good as the demo versions of The Impossibility of Reason and Pass Out of Existence, I’ll be happy.
