Two excellent – albeit very different – upcoming metal releases are currently streaming in their entirety:

  • If you feel like killing someone today, then Brutal Truth’s reunion album Evolution Through Revolution is streaming here. Make sure you’re wearing a diaper when you listen because the record will almost certainly rip you a new anus. The album’s official release comes April 14.
  • If you feel like hugging someone today, then Lacuna Coil’s latest, Shallow Life, is streaming here. It’s a Lacuna Coil album, which is to say it’s a real toe-tapper.  It’ll hit stores here in North America on April 21 and the rest of the world at various other dates somewheres about April 21.

It cracks me up that Lacuna Coil have two dudes named Marco, two dudes named Cristiano, and two people with girl’s names. Are they running out of names in Italy?

That said, I’m more interested in the Lacuna Coil album than Brutal Truth. LC may not be as heavy, but I prefer listenable songs over random blast beats and noise (most of the time).

What if we feel like both hugging someone and killing someone today?

  3. Patton says:

    Hug someone to death ?

So I’m starting the the LC stream since I like a lot of that bands stuff. So far, almost done with the first listen, and its drastically better than Karmacode. Definitely falls more into the pop metal category, but I like what I’m hearing so far. Nothing ground breaking on here, but its catchy and easy to listen to.

As the work day goes on and I get grumpier, then I’ll give Brutal Truth a whirl and see what I think.

This music ahs the opposite effect on me, listening to lacuna coil makes me want to stab and kill people and then following it up with brutal truth makes it all better and i want to hug because it makes me realize that all things are not terrible.

  6. Lt Crumpet says:

All who listen to the new Brutal Truth album shall be proclaimed heretics and shall be purged in the name of the Emperor.

  7. PrayForPlagues says:

    Haha Lt Crumpet’s a Warhammer n00b!

Anyways, I do like the new Lacuna Coil stuff, it’s catchy and easy to listen to. Though it doesn’t stand out to me as much as Our Truth, it is definitly worth checking out!

  8. Dan says:

That new Lacuna Coil reminds me of Linkin Park. I really liked Unleashed Memories but nothing since.

  9. justin says:

new brutal truth is cool, but the new agoraphobic nosebleed is way better. these new brutal truth sound like they were meant for a live setting and not listening on headphones. i’m sure they’ll play a bunch of ‘em at MDF this summer.

  10. Kye says:

Ok…I LOVE Lacuna Coil, but this album is nothing short of meh. There’s no texture, no energy, nothing. It’s just them playing some mediocre music.

And “I Like It” would be Miley Cyrus’ “Fly on the Wall” if the guitars weren’t there. That’s instantly what my mind jumped to. Which is NOT good.

  11. Draven_Corvinus says:

I agree that this one so far sounds much better than karmacode. I like it only because it reminds me of earlier stuff with Andreas singing more.

I’m listening to the Brutal Truth now. *smiles with glee*

  12. Mancubus says:

The new Brutal Truth sucks compared to the early stuff. The riffs just suck.
