HOLY SHIT, CENTAURUS-A ARE AWESOME!
Wednesday, April 15th, 2009 at 3:49pm by Vince NeilsteinChalk it up once again to great European metal labels just not having enough juice to work their bands Stateside — but holy fuck, how have all of us been missing out on the orgasmicity that is Centaurus-A?? The band doesn’t have an American record label yet, but on the other side of the pond they’re on Listenable, which is really no surprise considering the same label puts out Gojira and Textures. Centaurus-A may be as good as either of those bands even if they sound like neither. The lazy journalist in me is just going to say they’re “progressive death metal,” though that simple classification doesn’t capture the nuance of their sound; there’s plenty of brutality, off-kilter time signatures, groove, wicked chops and occasional shred. If you enjoy Obscura, Arsis, Psycroptic, Gojira, Meshuggah and the like, you’ll eat this shit up; it’s fucking intense and you need to hear it for yourself. Check out the video below, then listen to more tunage on their MySpace page.

Holy Shit,a good recomendation!!!! Damn, that really is pretty good. I am going to have to dig a little deeper into what these guys are doing!
FUCK YES! Wicked find!!!
Good thing these guys got more spotlight than this:
http://www.metalsucks.net/2009/03/05/metal-haiku-reviews/
glad you guys laid down some more coverage. They were criminally under rated in your metal haikus.
Winner!
Yeah awesome! never heard of them, gonna check some music out for shure!
That is awesome! Instant fan here.
Heard ‘em a while back, found them boring. My impression hasn’t changed.
Found these guys recently… not bad at all.
finally! hung with the singer in wacken, got some good photos ^^
they are friends of jack slater so I know them via that guys
This video represents everything that’s wrong with European metal: no bass player, drummer who needs a click *for a fucking video shoot*, and Mr. Yellow Guitarist: C.C. Deville called, he wants his guitar back.
Other than that it was awesome.
Yeah where’s the bass player? And the production is a bit sterile, but the material is killer.
That’s some quality shit – thanks for the recommendation.
riff @ 2:45 was badass
I like it.
Wow, that’s actually surprisingly good.
surprisingly not shitty at all.
great youre giving them more attention than the haiku. Although not really mind blowing like the bands you mention at the end,I’d like to see what these guys can do with better production
Metalsucks recommends a metal band that doesn’t suck! :O
The vocalist – Michael Ahlgrimm – is the bass player.
Totally ace guys!
“The band doesn’t have an American record label yet, but on the other side of the pond they’re on Listenable..”
Incorrect. Koch released “Side Effects Expected” Stateside today.
Got my copy! :)
