So this Burning Human record ended up being really fucking cool. Any time early press about a band loudly touts the fact that the band features a member of another more famous band (in this case drum-guru Jason Bittner of Shadows Fall) I’m naturally skeptical; but about 5 seconds of the new song “Tormented Mind” was really all I needed to convince me that Burning Human is completely capable of standing on their own as a brutal, crushing death metal band. Honestly, this is some of the finest straight up death metal I’ve heard since Bloodbath’s The Fathomless Mastery decimated my brain last year. “Tormented Mind” comes from their new album Ressurection Through Fire, produced by the legendary James Murphy (Death) and out on Koch/E1 tomorrow. nobody knows who these guys are. most dismiss it as a bittner side project. the folks who remember seeing these guys about 10 yrs ago at saratoga winners know though. this is pretty much the death metal version of stigmata, but then again if youre not from here u have no idea what im talking about
Yea, blen glenton (lol nice name) saratoga winners was the shit and I remember seeing them there. It sucks that shit hole closed down. Even though it looked like it was gonna collapse all the time, it was my favorite venue.
Aaaaaargh – I hate people using the word ‘decimate’ to imply something was completely destroyed / wiped out when ‘annihilate’ would be a more fitting term.
Decimate means to reduce by 1/10th (the clue is in the 1st part of the word – deci) – doesn’t sound as impressive now does it?
Not just a pop at Vince though, I’m also sick of metal lyricists & news reporters in the Middle East using the word incorrectly – some people need to read more rather than hear a word in a film & think “that sounds like a good word, I’ll use that” without knowing its true meaning.
Uh well Mr. Elduderino, with my dictionary app open in front of me, im reading that it also means to kill in large numbers, not just 1 in ten. Unless your roman, then in that case carry on ya tatterdemalion!
I saw these guys last night at Norhern Lights! I’m sure live, they’re nothing like they were in the past, but they still melted my face off and seeing Bittner’s insane drumming was a treat. The new CD is fuckin’ awesome. So much better than all other death metal that comes out these days.
