Kowloon Walled City is good, but where was an article like this when local heroes Replicator were still around. This is more like the Third New Wave Of American Noise Rock for the bay area. To say nothing of Lower Forty-Eight or Greenlight the Bombers, say what you will though, Replicator outlasted them all, and although it may be long dead now, the community showed it. Noiserock picnics and everything.

I like Kowloon Walled City just fine, but there isn't anything they do that El Buzzard didn't do better. Have some sense of history at least. Articles in guitar player magazine or what not will never change that. People love to think things just happen with no pre-amble.

Having said all that, I am rooting for KWC, and do listen to them. just remember, just because there wasn't a touch and go style label to release all of thee bands doesn't mean they were borne in a vacuum. Some of us still remember, and are grateful to labels like Radio Is Down, Monotreme and Pencilneck for putting their necks out on stuff that didn't fit in any circle BEFORE it was cool.

For more hot Kowloon action, see the totally underrated -- and maybe forgotten -- Ohio metalcore killers Premonitions of War, whose "Left in Kowloon" was prettty hot.
