A7X pales in comparison to Underoath in every aspect except their guitar work. Underoath isn’t meant to be a shredding, guitar-riff kinda band. What Underoath is meant to do is invoke passion and awe in the listener, which is something they still to do me thousands of plays later.

^^ if anything at all, they look disheveled and almost destitute.

I hold Underoath as close to my heart as anything in this world. It takes a lot for a band to do that, something that is unprecedented in this world, something that A7X could never hope to achieve.

I think to compare one to the other is a little ridiculous. Opinions are dependent on taste and how can you compare bands that have two different styles of song-writing and really are not even the same sub-genre of metal. Let’s compare Protest the Hero(current obsession) with Tool. Both progressive metal bands, but on the opposite spectrums of a sub-genre.
To say that either bands lyrics are generic is debatable. Avenged has some generic metal core lines, but Underoath does have some generic religious lines, and “deep” topics are reused often. (but really, what the hell hasn’t been done before?)
They are both different styles of song writing, but you could say that either band is repetitious in what they do and rely on a cookie-cutter recipe.
Chops speaking, Syn is far more proficient than anyone else involved. But in the same regard, Avenged’s collective vocal ability does not have the range of Underoath’s.
The bands both differ in vocal and guitar styles though, so again, a real comparison is impossible.
Both bands rely on gimmicks and specific “looks” that really aren’t for me.
I personally think Avenged puts on a better show, but Underoath was nothing to scoff at.

I do believe that Tim was completely out of line trashing another band. Even if your not particularly fond of someone, it’s really no excuse to have the lack of decency and respect for a fellow musician to trash what they do. Especially coming from someone who believes what he claims to believe. Pretty fucked up.

I like both bands, doesn’t really which I prefer. Honestly, we’re fucking metal heads, we pride ourselves on our unswayable opinions.

Keep it fuckin’ metal.

The guy from Underoath has a point,and underoath may not be great (in fact they suck) but “AX7″ are the biggest piece of shit garbage pop-rock not named Nickelback.They’re the worst type of over-marketed bullshit I can think of.They dress like faggots to.Walking was ok but everything else is a huge crock of shit.

Screw Avenged,they’re metal for the 14 year old preps who think that Slipknot is “the heaviest band on the planet” haha.

I also gotta say, it’s not fair to hate on any hard rock musician for using a stage name. Alice Cooper, Bobby Blitz, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, fuck even Ozzy Osbourne: all stage names. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Zakk Wylde, Dimebag Darrell, Corpsegrinder, come on EVERY BLACK METAL MUSICIAN EVER!! Can you imagine if every single Ozzy shirt said “John Osbourne” on it instead? If every Manson shirt said “Brian Warner”? I get it, the music of A7X no longer has substance and now they rely only on their image to sell records instead of their ability because they no longer have any ability. I’m just here to defend stage names.

I have to admit, I really enjoy Waking The Fallen. I bought that album when it first came out, before the ridiculous publicity and guns n roses piracy and complete fabrication of an image and interviews where they’re writing about the drummer snorting fat lines of coke. They used to be a totally different band before they were famous. I remember reading almost nothing but rave reviews for WTF, from people who were into grindcore and black metal and shit. This one dude from Australia who was a total grindhead even went so far as to say it was the best metal album of the decade. Then they followed it up with two absolute atrocities against music and an arrogant, obnoxious attitude that’s clearly nothing but an attempt to push people’s buttons. Oh well, no use crying over a spilt band. If we all did that, the continued existence of Metallica would create mass floods all over the world.

Everything I’ve ever heard by Underoath is absolutely horrendous, at least as horrendous as what A7X is doing now. You’re both lame, and you’ve both outstayed your welcome.
