I obviously have taste, as I listen to Cynic, Meshuggah, and Brittney Spears, and I can easily say that Devildriver is the super shit and not, indeed, terrible like you suggest. Their first couple of albums were kinda rough around the edges, but the last album was heavy, tight, groovy, and established the Devildriver sound. It was what the new Lamb of God album should have sounded like.

I agree with your sentiment that DevilDriver are not terrible. I disagree however that their last album is their best, and I disagree that there was anything wrong with the latest LoG album.
Not a huge fan of DD but the artwork is pretty cool.

The second one kind of reminds me of the cover for The Famine: The Raven and the Reaping (which you all need to check out if ya know what’s good for ya, grindcore with a Southern metal flavor). Same artist maybe?

Oh, I’ve listened to DevilDriver… and I can’t really agree that they ‘don’t sound like any other band’. In fact, they sound like Dez realized nu metal was finished and latched onto metalcore (minus teh clean vocals) instead.

Actually, I labeled them metalcore because that’s what they sound like. Coincidentally, I don’t like them because I listened to them and realized that if they didn’t have the vocalist from Coal Chamber they would have gotten lost a long time ago alongside all the other generic, mediocre metalcore bands out there.

As a fan of both Devildriver and woodland critters, I like it. Especially the special edition artwork. Native American influences in the album maybe?

I had never heard of them before I saw this comment and decided to look them up; I couldn’t be more displeased with the unoriginality and disgusting vocal style. I mean, I don’t know how many people can listen to that with the option of DD in hand.

I’ve judged DevilDriver by their music… it’s the kind of stuff that the people I described listen to. Just because you listen to it too means nothing except that you’re a fan of an extremely average band.

wow people amaze me with how dumb they are, mindlessly calling anyting they dont like metalcore. devildriver has no whiney ass clean vocals and no breakdowns. they are new wave, or groove metal, or even just metal but theres no “hardcore” in their music to get the sufex of core added on there.
anyways about the albumes, i dont like them, dont match their previus 3 albume covers, wheres the devildriver symbol at? look at the progress they have been making from their first 3 albumes, if they continue to follow that curve, this will be an amazing cd
Agree in totality. It is also funny to me that the same people that bitch about Dez’s roots in Nu-Metal will be first in line, when Nu-Metal enters it’s nostalgic era and becomes cool again, saying that they liked Dez better before he sold out and went all metal.

good band. I enjoy these guys alot. At the 04 ozzfest these guys had the biggest pit out of anyone on the second stage and I do realize that Slipknot and Lamb of God were on second stage this year.

All I can say is that DEVILDRIVER RULES!!!! I’m going on forty and I’ve always been a metalhead but very picky in what I listen to! You got to have something different for each band. Not the same old metallica shit. At least Dave mustaine is getting back to Megadeth roots. Devildriver is truly unique! There is no label you can put on their music. It’s metal but what category. There is none for Devildriver. Just KICK ASS BANG YOUR HEAD AGAINST THE STAGE METAL!!!!! There is not a better band out there!!!
