WILL NORMA JEAN REALLY GET BACK TO THEIR ROOTS?
Friday, May 1st, 2009 at 1:00pm by Axl RosenbergHere’s the best tweet I’ve seen all week, from Norma Jean:
just had a brief conversation about the direction for the next record which we will soon write. A little “back to our roots” is in order.7 minutes ago from web
If that turns out to be true, I will be one happy motherfucker. I know that MetalSucks’ own Gary Suarez disagrees with me that the most recent Norma Jean record sucked, but how anyone could think that “Robots 3, Humans 0″ is better than this is beyond me:

Not a big fan of Norma Jean but I’ve always liked this song. It’s just weird…
I’ve been a fan of absolutely everything Norma Jean has ever done. I really enjoyed bless the martyr. Even when they became a total botch rip I thought they were still awesome. In my opinion I think redeemer was their best record. I don’t want them to try and do what they did 5 or 6 years ago when Josh Scogin was still in the band. That’s what the chariot is for.
If the new record is somewhere between bless the martyr kiss the child and o god the aftermath ill be real happy to hear it. redeemer was way to soft and the new record is, well not the direction i hoped theyd take it.
I’ve liked everything Norma Jean has done to some degree or another, with their latest being their worst in my opinion, but nothing they’ve done (nor anything the Chariot has done) can compare to Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child. I really, really, really hope they go back to that sound.
I like Bless the Martyr and actualyl didnt mind their newest record either. The one in between in too much of a ripoff. I actually like the new Chariot record too. They used to just be noise, especially live, but i am diggin the new tunes. I was totally not into the Chariot or the newer Norma Jean stuff cause i was more into the newer death metal and metalcore stuff, but now that there are a million “deathcore” bands, i actually like the noisier stuff again, weird.
norma jean will never be what it was….b/c josh scogin ain’t in the band no more…bless the martyr was one of my favorite albums of all time…the new singer is ok…but norma jean to me will always be this era….and that singer in the video wasn’t even in the band for long…he was the worst live…then they got cody and hes ok just no josh….
…Bands always say they are going back to there roots and it just sounds like there last pussy record with a few heavy parts….fuck man ill believe it when i hear it
I wish they would just make another botch record, or another coalesce record, or a mixture of the two would be fine with me. Though, at this point regardless of what they put out I don’t know that I can forgive them for the last two shittastic albums.
will listen and if its like bless the marytr i will like. but Scoogin > Cory
Let’s hope they don’t start sounding like Ludicriss again.
Amen to that
Just for the record, that video is by Luti-Kriss not Norma Jean, same thing I know but still, let’s get our fcts straight
FUCK THESE JESUS-BOY LOSERS.
THEY RIPPED OFF BOTCH ANYWAY.
They definitely did do that. But who hasn’t ripped of Botch
I love Norma Jean, but the last album was pretty week. I still think Redeemer was the best. If they can somehow combine that with O’ God, I’d be pretty stoked.
Also, @ Mike, the video is by Norma Jean, it’s a song off of their ‘debut’ album as Norma Jean, Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child.
My mistake
this song hurt my peehole it was soo bad
who cares. Everything Norma Jean has put out has been utter shit and yes i have listened to the albums.
They fucking suck ass…but saying this to a bunch of memphis high school kids is like screaming “Fuck Michael Jackson” in Gary Indiana.
Except you’ll probably get more bibles and butthurt than people actually trying to kill your ass.
There’s a difference between heavy distorted music…and noise created by a bunch of assholes with effects pedals on their guitars. These guys hug on the latter like a security blanket.
Norma Jean is one of my favorite bands, I’ve loved everything they have put out…but I do agree that the newest record is the weakest. I like the musical aspect of Bless the Martyr but Josh’s voice bores me…Cory on the other hand has a very versatile voice. We need to hear a Redeemer+O’God the Aftermath=FUCKING SWEET album.
