I am the National President for a Heavy Metal Club.
I met the members of IWABO at Dyers Burgers after an Otep Show here in Memphis, TN., all those who talk down about the members of this band are very wrong, these are some kick ass partying mofos. As far as all the BS name calling towards the band as a whole…get yer ass up there and then talk…. I for one like the band, and really like the band members……if you don’t, then why waste time talking shit about them….you should be listening something you do like.

there not fags , there REALLY nice down to earth people. i met them at metal fest and mid convo we watched some hippie douche bag get put in a patty wagon , IT WAS HILLARIOUSE. You know I have talked about not understanding where the hostility comes from for this band. I mean its one thing not to like them, but people are down right malevolent hear. However I have put some thought into this and I am begining to understand why people hate this band so much:

I sometimes forget that metal attracts a certain kind of machoism that I guess this band intimidates. Yeah, intimidates. They scare the uber – machismo because they are the opposte of anything meant to be looked at as “tough” or “brutal” or “kvlt” even. Do not be fooled! Whether you are a metal elitist or a “scene kid” image has everything to do with it for the purists.

I personally never got into metal to be “bad ass”. I got into metal for an appreciation of technical music. Of coarse I love the brutal and aggressive aspect, but I understand unlike alot of people hear that there will always be plenty of Glen Bentons and Jamie Jastas out there and that IWABO will not undo that.

I like to think of this band as what would happen if you (or I, I guess) made a band with your dorky friends and shit got big for you too quickly.

I ran into a couple of the members, Krista, and the drummer I think, and they seemed pretty chill, they genuinely seemed surprised at the turn-out and love they were given. They seem like a band who was used to goofing off and having fun and now they actually have to tour for real. I know there’s a joke there, it’s obvious, anyone can make it, whatever.
