SEVENTH VOID TRADE IN THEIR BLACK CLOTHES FOR A BOTTLE OF BOURBON

Monday, May 4th, 2009 at 1:02pm by Vince Neilstein

Several of you (ok… three) have emailed MetalSucks urging us to check out Seventh Void — the new band featuring Johnny Kelly and Kenny Hickey of Type-O Negative — whose debut record Heaven is Gone just dropped last month on Vinnie Paul’s Big Vin Records. Seventh Void sound nothing like the goth-laden, morose metal played by half of the band in their day jobs; instead we get southern-tinged, bluesy hard rock with little pretense that sounds more like Down, Corrosion of Conformity or early Soundgarden than anything Type-O have done to date. Check out their new video for the Heaven is Gone’s title track below, then have a listen to more on Seventh Void’s MySpace page. Look out for MS interviews later this month with both Johnny Kelly and Vinnie Paul!

Probably the best thing I’ve heard from Big Vin Records. But that’s like being the worlds smartest retard.

  2. poopsmcgee says:

i made it all the way through the video :D

  3. TurdFerguson says:

Not bad. that’s a nice rug the drummer has too.

  4. rohit says:

Is it just me or does that video seem kind of low key and cheaply produced? Or is just every other video overly produced?

i got their album and it fuckin’ rocks. this one is definitely going in my top ten this year…. and as much as i like the songs/production/mix… if anyone else has heard this, as awesome as the album is, can you imagine what it’d sound like if down or COC was playing these songs? i’ve listened several times, and love all the songs except one…. but one dud out of the whole record is not too shabby at all.

Yo, we’re working the seventh void album. You guys should go to their Myspace and sign up for those contests going on. You might win a signed schecter guitar. Now, in an effort not to sound like a spamming ass ho, I’d like to thank Vince for putting this video up AFTER mentioning he’d rather listen to his parents fucking than a new Hellyeah album. If Vinnie sees that shit, he’s gonna have my head! hahahaha. Also, thanks to Shaun for conducting the interviews!

Keep on doing what you do guys. Love the site.

  7. Brock says:

It was listenable. Definitely better than anything Type O has done.

  8. Bill says:

sounds pretty fucking good to me. definitely hear the early soundgarden in there.

  9. Sammy says:

@Turd: I thought the same thing about the drummer’s rug!
@Rohit: It’s the latter. Every other video is overproduced shit.

It’s two songs on the Myspace site, but good enough to listen to a third….

@Faarhad – I laughed for 10 minutes after reading your comment.
