RELAPSE CONTAMINATION TOUR UPDATE: OBSCURA FORCED TO DROP OFF, TOUR CUT SHORT

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 at 9:45am by

Due to illness, Obscura have been forced to cut short the remainder of their North American tour. The MetalSucks-sponsored Contamination Tour will continue on through May 10th with label-mates Graves of Valor, with appearances on select dates from Brutal Truth and Hero Destroyed.

Obscura vocalist /guitarist Steffen Kummerer issued the following; “Several nights ago, after struggling with illness throughout this tour, I’ve lost my singing voice entirely and can barely speak. At this juncture, it’s best for me to rest rather than deliver anything less than exceptional performances. For all the cities we’ll miss, we’ll be back in the winter to make-up these dates. Thanks to everyone who made our first North American Tour so amazing. We’re looking forward to returning again in the winter.”

The tour will conclude earlier than expected with the May 11th through 14th dates being cancelled. Affected cities are as follows; Danbury, CT, New York City, Baltimore and Philadelphia. A list of on-going shows is below.

May 5 Southgate, MI Modern Exchange
May 6 Cleveland, OH Peabody’s (FREE show!)
May 7 Syracuse, NY Lost Horizon (w/ BRUTAL TRUTH)
May 8 Pittsburgh, PA 31st St Pub (w/ HERO DESTROYED)
May 9 Allentown, PA Sterling Hotel (w/ BRUTAL TRUTH)
May 10 Boston, MA The Church (w/ BRUTAL TRUTH, REVOCATION)

All ticket winners and guest list requests will be honored for the remaining dates.

That’s too bad for the tour. I’m wondering if anything else was going on, the bassist wasn’t there for the show I went to which was disappointing. Graves of Valor was pretty meh but Abysmal Dawn is definitely worth the cost of admission. They put on a great set, extremely heavy and very skilled.

    damn it!!!

The bassist wasn’t in Indianapolis, either. Abysmal Dawn was amazing though.

Man, that sucks. I was really pumped for the Contamination Tour because it was one of the few tours stopping in at the little shit stain of a city that I live next to. Well, at least I’ll get to see Brutal Truth tomorrow.
