Fucking awesome. I don’t even care, that was a good fucking band. Seeing them live was just as awesome.
ceth
SO MUCHE BETTER than Mars Volta. And holy shit how did these guys ever make it through a full set?!! Judging by all the live videos i have seen of these guys, I bet the drug dealers were happy to see these guys whenever they came to town.
Aaron R A
Totally agreed, they were exponentially better than The Mars Volta.
bucketochicken
Awesome, awesome, awesome band. I wish I had been fortunate enough to have seen them play. I almost got to – I was going to go see them in StL right before they broke up… but then they broke up. Jerks.

Weird. I was just watching this same video a few days ago. I love Omar’s fancy footwork.
The Roan
they all just need to man up and get back together
The Mighty Fucking Quinn
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! I was just thinking about these guys two days ago after hearing Mars Volta (whom I’ve never liked for some reason, even though I dug Sparta) has a new album coming out. ATDI was boss and Relationship of Command was brilliant. Now if these guys got back together, I’d throw a shit fit of joy.
bearbomb
I’ve always sung the praises of this band and this video is a prime example of why. If you can’t appreciate this video then you do not like music. Of any kind. Period.
Moleman
I love this band way too much! I also have no problem with mars volta either
gnarlk
on one hand, it was admirable that they packed it in while they were at their peak, but sadly the diminished returns of the post ATDI acts make me shake my head and wonder what else they were really capable of…
SIR MICHAEL CAINE
YOU’RE A DIMINISHED RETURN.
gnarlk
oh man, how can i live that down? i guess i was “pwned”, hmmm?
weak
You’re trying too hard.
Factor
That was great! Saw them in Baltimore in 2000, and I wish I remembered the show more.
j-rock
Is it just me, or do you get the impression that it was around this time that Jim Ward had begun to utterly despise Cedric and Omar from this video?
Sammy
“No asshole, I said AFRO Drive-in!”
Uglymicrowave
I think whatever Omar and Cedric do together is genius….call it at the drive -in or TMV or El grupo Neuvo…
They always write all the material…there fucking amazing musicians…most talented of this generation…
Scott Danger
Fucking amazing stage presence and energy.
Miss these guys. Marz Volta is pretty sick too, as a sidenote.

My old band had the fortune of opening up for these guys at the Fireside in Chicago. None of us had ever heard of them (I think it was the In Casino Out tour), but we took the show because it was the first Friday or Saturday show we were offered at Fireside.
Needless to say, they totally blew our minds. Great band!
Beastmaster
I don’t see the draw to this band. Yes, they have energy, a love of their craft and skill. But I still think this sounds terrible. And why does everyone on this site seem to love it? I NOEZ UNDERSTAND!!!
Gothian
Amazing?…. you call this amazing?… Goshhhhhhh
20 eyes
fuck these hypos, listen to satanic surfers instead
keepitwolf
this is not at the drive in at their peak they unfortunately were never able to reach it
I
Ok, I dug them when they were around. I bought one of thier CDs and enjoyed it a great deal. But maybe it was my speakers on my laptop, but that sounded like nothing but noise. I couldn’t make a song out of any of it. That was absolute shit.
Axolotl
Maybe if you’d hear the album version first you’d be able to recognize the song. I did think this video was Vince being sarcastic or something until the song kicked in, one of the best songs they left us. If only Cedric would sing like this with The Mars Volta.
konkanator
holy fuck i was at this gig, theywere fucking mindblowing!!!!!!except his rants to the crowd to not slam dance sucked a big fat dick!!!!how the fuck can you not, they played maybe 4 songs called the crowd sheeps and fucked off stage, maybe there drugs werent strong enough!!!!
Mike
that guy cant sing for shit
Daniel
that sucked =/
Glenn
So….not ever having heard this band, would that be considered a “good” performance? What would a “bad” performance sound like in this case? It’s like they’re channeling the MC5…
Still, are there notes and rhythms that are played the same from performance to performance? It didn’t sound like that was valued too highly (not that that’s a bad thing necessarily). It seems you don’t even need to play anything half the time…
Finally, how is this even metal, even loosely stretched?
jason
Good luck finding an internet video that appropriately captures the ferocity and quality of this band’s live performances. They were amazing…
PS- Is channeling the MC5 supposed to be a bad thing? Not in my book.
Glenn
@jason – didn’t mean to imply channeling the MC5 was a bad thing. Nevertheless, this seems like a very different type of “ferocity” than, say, Slayer’s “War Ensemble”.
Are the people groovin’ to this in the video groovin’ to the…well, I don’t know…what *are* they groovin’ to?
niggaplease
Jesus Christ commenters here are dumb.
“How is this metal”
LOL
Glenn
What was dumb about that question? Seemed pretty reasonable to me.
Jesus Christ commenters here are judgmental.
Chris
Fuck I miss ATDI.
Anyone who is judging the band on a single live video NEEDS to download Relationship of Command. A fucking masterpiece of an album.
Balls666
What a fucking nightmare. Why do these guys at Metalsucks suck so bad? You guys love the worst music and shit on anything above mediocre. Fucking pussies. That wasn’t even music. I want to beat the shit out of you for posting that. You shove your tongue up the ass of every metalcore pussy band out there. Why? Do you like redundant, half-assed talent? Yes. The answer is yes, otherwise you wouldn’t put the garbage that you do on this site.
Eat it turds
PS- Love the site
Cobra Venom
That shit was terrible.
I seriously expected everyone in the comments to give it shit.
