PROTEST THE HERO: EXCLUSIVE TOUR DIARY VIDEO!

Thursday, May 14th, 2009 at 3:30pm by Vince Neilstein

Protest the Hero (recipients of one of only two 5-out-of-5-horns ratings on MetalSucks ever) are currently out on the MetalSucks-sponsored “Heads Will Roll” Tour with Misery Signals and The Number 12 Looks Like You, and yours truly had the privilege of seeing them headline for the first time this past Saturday night in NYC — and good lord, the band delivers the goods live to be sure. PtH have all the chops live they do on record; no ProTools chicanery there, folks. This is a tour you absolutely need to see when it hits your city, but it may already be too late; the tour wraps up with a show tonight in Chicago and another tomorrow in St. Paul, Minnesota. If you missed the tour when it came through your town or you live in Chicago or St. Paul but spent all your money on weed, check out the exclusive tour diary the Protest dudes did for us, below. It’s a great look into the zany behind-the-scenes antics of what goes down in the Protest camp on tour. And you get the impression this is only a fraction of the crazy shit that actually goes on.

Went to this show at Slim’s in SF and Misery Signals was fucking on, to the point
that I was almost disappointed by PTH. Maybe underwhelmed is a better word.
Sort of like how Gojira was fucking ridiculous and made All That Remains look like
shit (we skipped In Flames altogether and met Mario Duplantier next to the tour bus instead)

    Toodles.

This really makes me want to drive to Minneapolis to see Protest tomorrow night and miss Graduation the next morning.

God damnit, one of three, one of three, one of three!

Unless you guys have decided to disown Machine Head or something…

  5. infern0 says:

just saw them in philly on monday. pth was fun to watch but didnt find them to be worth sitting through the number 12 looks like you.

  6. Ryd1ZZ says:

Saw this tour in SD a few weeks ago. It kicked ass and PTH sounded great.

  7. Cisco says:

I caught the show in Houston, and Misery Signals owned! Protest the Hero had one or two thing going against them, either the acoustics of the club they played in were terrible or the sound guy did a crappy job because the vocals sounded muffled and incoherent… The Number 12 Looks Like You.. well I had heard of them but never actually heard them prior to that night and it was just a big meh.. I don’t get them just like I don’t get their name. My wife actually came along with me which was cool and she really digged Misery Signals and Scale the Summit! Plus for me!

  10. MetalRod says:

I saw them in Hollywood and they killed! The singer had a bottle of Jim Beam with him on stage hahah.

  11. SonOF says:

I like PTH lot, but that video clip was a hell of a lot of nothing. At least like they seem like cooler guys than the jerkoffs in IWABO.

I saw Protest at last years Warped Tour. It was sunny and bright all day, then Protest began to play and the skies grew dark and the clouds whirled overhead. The wind began kicking up dust and debris into the air. They played a brutal set as the sky danced with fury. When all songs were played the weather returned to normal. Protest the Hero brought forth the storms.

Tim’s beard is amazing! I wish my facial hair would grow in such an awesome way.

  14. TurdFerguson says:

They look like they would be fun to throw water baloons full of urine at the homeless with some time.

  15. Ozzstein says:

Roadies beard is pretty Kick ass too, its a shame he is going to get rid of it.

Saw them last night and they were dead on. Misery Signals were dead on too, but Chi town has way too may lilttle kids and too many dancers in the crowd… the fans at the show made it lame, i miss seeing the bands at a packed venue in toronto.

  16. Ozzstein says:

Also, Thank you Metalsucks and Vagrant for the free TIX!!!

  17. Meihofer says:

Bout to see them in like 2 hours!
    pumped

fall from grace i think im gonna skip… and #12 i just don’t kno about.
i have a feeling theres gonna be a bunch of fags in the crowd tho.
    hopefully maybe that doesn’t happen.
havn’t seen PtH live yet but been waiting for a while… looking forward
    to misery signals too.

  18. chad says:
