51zh8jtwnpl_ss500_Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as SSSSLLLLLAAAAAYYYYYERRRRRR!!!!!, does it?

In case you doubted the connection between classical music and modern metal: in 1999, Dave Lombardo teamed up with Italian music critic Lorenzo Arruga and some other people you don’t care about for Vivaldi: The Meeting, which basically takes some classic Vivaldi pieces and futzes around with them.

Is it brilliant, garbage, or just a failed experiment.? Invisible Oranges has some mp3s of the whole affair – head over there to check it out.

I’m going to have to go with the garbage assessment on this one. I’m sure there are some that like it, but personally I just don’t get it.

Yeahhh…. I have to suck it up and say better the first time on this one.

    A horrible, tragic, failed experiment.

I think the Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a better example of the relationship between metal and classical.

  7. CYN1C says:

Vivaldi was Baroque, not classical!!!! Am I the only one who was bothered by this?

I bought this album years ago. Interesting to say the least. Not really metal at all, but still interesting. I liked Lombardo’s drumming. A good contrast is Vivaldi Summer from Project Alcazar’s Reasons for a Decade.

  9. Reaper-X says:

The drum production sounds like shit.

  10. rohit says:

Am I the only one that actually likes how the drums sound?
