ANOTHER LIST TO ARGUE ABOUT

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009 at 10:30am by Axl Rosenberg

noisecreep-logo1Noisecreep have unveiled their list of the Top 10 Death Metal Debut Albums (although the list is in no particular order), courtesy Friend of MetalSucks, Carlos Ramirez.

And for once, I don’t actually have any complaints. The list is pretty good.

That being said, I’m sure you folks will find something to bitch about, so… have at it!!!

No need to argue. They actually didn’t fail at it. These are good bands with good albums. :)

  2. Sacajawea says:

I only have three of those albums so I can’t do much arguing. The three I have do belong in there though, so that’s good.

  3. TWOAF says:

    The list seems about right.

  4. Julian says:

Not a bad list, just missing Like an Ever Flowing Stream.

  5. Zombie(really) says:

    List seems fine with me.

  6. lkgf09 says:

what about Altars of Madness? No love for Morbid Angel. Besides that awesome list.

  7. CarlosRamirez says:

‘Altars of Madness’ is not Morbid Angel’s debut album. That would actually be ‘Abominations of Desolation.’

  8. bob says:

    Um no…

Abominations of Desolation is a series of demos that came out in 1991. Altars is their debut full length album, newb.

This list is cool but Immolation is terrible. Switch them out with Altars.

    • Brock says:

You called someone a “newb”. That makes you awesome in internet land.

      • 20 eyes says:

haha and he started with “um no..”
        that just sounds snobby.

i missed the debut part as well. after all its just one little ass word.

  9. CarlosRamirez says:

    Hey Bob,

First off, I’m definitely not a “newb” dude. I have played in 2 bands with Dave Witte….doesn’t that count for anything?! haha

Secondly. ‘Abominations of Desolation’ is definitely their first album. They just didn’t like it so it went unreleased for a few years before Earache Records put it out. Mike Browning of Nocturnus was the singer at the time.

  10. 36thoughtless says:

Seems fine, except no love for Morbid Angel

  11. Dan says:

    No Possessed. Fail.

    • iolanach says:

Yup, that’s probably the most obvious miss. Other then that, is pretty good. I guess.

      • Joe says:

Uhhhh it’s hard to call an album a debut when the first is their only death metal album, as Beyond the Gates is more or less German thrash (but I dig it anyway.)

  12. myke says:

whats with all the morbid angel hating on that list and no cannibal corpse or even any early carcass come on dude why are you hating!!!!

  13. ashley says:

This sucks. I can’t bitch about anything on that list. As far as death metal goes it’s looking pretty good!

  14. Mancubus says:

Where the FUCK are Alters of Madness, Like an Everflowing Stream, Focus, or Peace of Time? Not one of them got mentioned. WTF?

  15. Cavorka says:

Waaaait a minute……where the fuck is PENETRALIA???

  16. Mike says:

Pesonally I qould have added Cryptopsy, but that’s just me.

  17. SonOF says:

Good list. I would have added Dismember’s Like an Everflowing Stream (which many people mentioned) and Opeth’s Orchid (although I know that album isn’t death metal in the strictest sense).

  18. Malacoda says:

    Good list.

  19. justin says:

yup. solid list. i would probably throw “conforming…” by cephalic carnage on my personal list, but otherwise there are no complaints or criticisms.

  20. Tim says:

A suprisingly well-thought out and complete list. It’s awesome they included Incantation, Onward to Golgotha never gets the credit it deserves for being one of the heaviest, evilest metal albums ever.

  21. THE CARL says:

Ironically I am a huge death metal fan but apparently not a fan enough considering i have none of those albums. This is one of those rare articles that really opened my eyes. I mean who knew Dark Throne was a more death metal oriented band before they pretty much wrote the book on black metal?

    Great article!

    • Tim says:

I got Soulside Journey in ‘92 in a tape trade with my friend Eric. I got that and he got Megadeth’s So Far, So Good, So What? It was probably another seven or eight years before I listened to another Darkthrone album. At the time it didn’t compare to Carnage, Entombed, Grave, Dismember, Unleashed, Hypocrisy. Who knew it would be so well regarded nearly twenty years later?

  22. Brock says:

    Pretty good list.

  23. Whittemore says:

    Missing Seven Churches by Possessed

  24. Reaper-X says:

This is possibly THE calmest collection of comments on Metalsucks…
