IF THESE TREES COULD TALK I’D HOPE THEY WOULD SOUND THIS AWESOME

if these trees could talkMeet If These Trees Could Talk, an instrumental band from Akron, Ohio. If These Trees Could Talk border on metal the same way bands like Dredg, Muse, Maserati and Russian Circles do — for the most part they stick to delicate but rocking atmospheric grooves, but occasionally they kick it into high gear for cathartic headbang crescendos. If you’re a fan of well-crafted, intricate, moody music like the above-mentioned bands — in addition to other heady, cerebral rock acts like Tool, Mogwai, and Isis — my guess is you’ll dig this band. This is thinking man’s rock for listeners who revel in musical subtlety; no blast beats or cookie monster vocals to be seen here. For those questioning why this is on a metal site, go fuck yourself. Or just wait ’til the heavy part towards the end of the song kicks in.

ITTCT have been kind enough to offer us up a free track called “What’s in the Ground Belongs To You” from their album Above the Sky, Below the Earth. Stream or download it below. They’ll be releasing a new vinyl through Mylene Sheath sometime this Fall. Enjoy.

awesome awesome awesome band. good to see them get some coverage.

  • TurdFerguson

That song was really good. i wonder what they would sound like with some vocals though.

  • Colin

Yeah, sounds really good. Vocals can make or break it. For me, Isis would sound a lot better with a different singer.

    • The Roan

when he screams its on point, but i agree his singing doesnt do it for me

Never expected to see this band mentioned here, I hope everyone who reads this site becomes a fan and supports them.

  • fightingmike

That is a pretty decent song. Definitely sounds like an intrumental Dredg track or something.

Not another Post rock band. All this experimental post rock/metal bands are starting to sound alike. If you told me this was ISIS I would have believed you.

    • Paul

Are you just making up genres? What is “post rock”?

I don’t think this sounds anything like Isis.

      • \m/Eluveitie\m/

Post rock is a pretty widely acknowledged genre

These cats are awesome. Their song “Malabar Front” is featured in a trailer to PS3′s inFamous game. Maybe using the visuals is cheating, but it rocks like f***k.

    Scroll down just a little.

As a fan of this type of music, I would have said that the genre is already oversaturated but after listening to the track I have to admit that it sounds surprisingly fresh to these ears.
