Those groovy folks at Roadrunner are giving away the title track from the new DevilDriver album, Pray for Villains, right here.
And I dig it. It sounds like DevilDriver, but a little faster than most DevilDriver, and a little more melodic (and no, that’s not code for “clean vocals” – Dez still sounds like he’s trying to hock a massive blood-tinged loogie). I also really like that herky jerky start-stop thing that happens in the last minute or so of the track.

Nice, very nice. Also does add validation to the fact that OWLS are in fact Metal.
owls are round, night dwelling, mouse eating, anti socialites- they`re everything that encompases a metalhead!
also, i hope this cd is good. 1st devildriver was great, 2nd ,alright, 3-shite, in my opinion. i want to be proud to say i like devildriver.

Eh, it rocks, but nothing about it is nearly as catchy as their past material. Even the structure is less appealing. Maybe that brings it some legitimacy, but I’m not going for an album of this stuff.
On the owl – the japanese cover of In Flames’ Lunar Strain had an owl on it – way ahead of DD
Rush had an owl on Fly By Night in 1975, if you wanna call them metal
yes, the choppy part near the end is tasty, but whats with the spoken call and response bit during the pre-chorus?

Pleasantly surprised to get an email about this. It’s cool, but not as good as I was hoping I guess. Here’s to hoping I dig more of the cd.

i feel each cd they release is better then the last, but this song sounds like a fury of our makers hand type song. i liked it but i hope the rest of the cd is a step forward and not a step back

Well, they didn’t really bring anything new to the table. Didn’t do anything for me.
eh…not bad, but It really lacks the melody that made me love The Last Kind Words so much.
Hopefully the album has more of that.
ok ,i just listened to the song…main problem? TOO MANY DRUM TRIGGERS AND TOO MANY VOCALS!
1-the drums all sound artificial and quiet, which is what over triggering will do.
2-also, the vocal thing sees to be a new trend with new bands and bands like devildriver\lamb of god, etc. they put vocals over the entire song. no segment for the music. no chorus line. just a barrade of non stop vocals! christ!
Stellar production. Everything sounds monstrous. Album art made me doubt what was in store but it was thouroughly entertained. Wish they weren’t touring with bands that have hardcore dancing jack offs as fans. Bummer
call me what you want, after seeing them live twice and giving them several tries i’m not even gonna bother listening to this shit. these guys suck donkey ballz and dez is a douche. end of story.
unlike suicide silence, this will go on my computer. and i will let it stay there too. i like it better than their older stuff i think, but hard to say. need to listen a few more times.

Awesome stuff. Hope this album is better than their last, that was their weakest so far I think. It was still great though.
i loved the last album and this new song is kinda of getting my attention. crappy art work though looks like something my son would draw for art class
Wow, unlike their last album, this doesn’t utterly suck. And I guess that Dez didn’t totally blow out his voice since he actually sounds good here.
This song kicks ass! I can’t wait for the album in July!
i like the art, but this isn’t as catchy as there previous stuff, but its moving in a more heavier straight up metal direction, like LOGs Wrath, which is a good thing — especially live ;P
This song rules. It’s up to par with the stuff off their last album, I really didnt think they’d be able to come close to it, but they did. This song rules.
