FAITH NO MOORE

UPDATE: Pitchfuck now says this ain’t happenin’. Oh well. Thanks to Scott Casey for the heads up.

I imagine that there’s a certain percentage of the population that will never read any of Alan Moore’s work – including the graphic novels Watchmen, V for Vendetta and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (but NOT the horrible movies they were turned into, all of which he has disowned) – because they assume that comics are, by their definition, for children and/or the emotionally stunted. And that’s too bad, ’cause Moore is a bona fide fucking GENIUS. The guy’s writing is just incredible. Plus, his ginormous beard is metal as fuck.

Now Moore is working on a semi-autobiographical multimedia project – a “photographic novel”  which will include a score with contributions from both Mike Patton and Justin Broadrick. The project is expected to be released in 2010 via Lex Records.

All I can say is: holy shit. A collaboration between any two of these artists would be more than enough to get my money. I can’t wait to see/hear what they’ve come up with.

Yeah, he’s a genius alright, but fuck if he knows it. Man, he can be snob sometimes. I do enjoy most of his work, though.

Is that Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes?

“V for Vendetta” was a great movie (despite having Natalie Portman). Granted, I’ve never read the fancy picture-book, but I loved the movie.

  6. TurdFerguson says:

You should read what he did for Swamp Thing and block out those horrible movies and even worse tv series. good stuff!

  7. trav says:

Alan Moore is a cranky douche. Hasn’t done anything worthwhile in twenty years and never will again.

    • Read Lost Girls? Fucking brilliant, despite its controversy.

Alan Moore’s always been able to objectively criticize society from a top-down perspective and a lot of people aren’t ready to understand that (not implying anything). That’s why his work has never been faithfully translated to the screen.

Thats because you’ve had your head stuck up your ass for twenty years

My wife’s best friend’s dad is named Alan Moore. Not the same guy at all. Just thought I’d throw that out there. You’re welcome.

  9. godmoney says:

Watchmen was both awesome an awesome movie and faithful to the source material you illiterate pusbag

    • Jombug says:

It’s not that it wasn’t faithful to the source thats the problem (it was faithful) it’s what was left out.. If Harry Potter can have 2 fucking movies based on 1 book, so should Watchmen.

When I saw this picture, I thought, “Wow, Robert Plant is really starting to look like shit”.

  11. Damn, Jim Martin needs to stay away from that pumpkin patch.
