WATCHTHE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION PART II: THE METAL YEARS IN ITS ENTIRETY FOR FREE!!!

Thanks to our bro-bros at Metal Injection for bringing to our attention that one of the greatest metal documentaries of all time, Penelope Spheeris’  The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years, is now available online, in its entirety, absolutely free (And FYI, in case ya didn’t know – Spheeris would go on to direct another classic of cinemetal, the original Wayne’s World.).

For some reason this 1988 classic – which includes amazing interviews with Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy, Steven Tyler, Taime Down, Riki Rachtman, Bill Gazzarri, members of Poison, Kiss, and Armored Saint, and, most infamously, a very, very, very drunk Chris Holmes of W.A.S.P. – isn’t available on DVD, and I honestly don’t even know anyone who owns a VHS player anymore. So if for some reason you’ve never seen this film, you MUST watch it now – especially since I’m fairly certain that this is not a legal rip. Watch it now before the lawyers take it down.

    Ever heard of torrents?

  2. TurdFerguson says:

There isn’t really any metal in this movie.

    • SourDeez says:

That’s what the badass Megadeth ending is for.

      • iolanach says:

metal or no metal, that interview with Chris Holmes (of WASP) is certainly the greatest moment ever caught on film.

        • angelcrusher!! says:

the only thing worth watching was chris and his mom sitting there not saying shit

          • charlieb says:

That scene of him pouring vodka down his throat was staged by Holmes. The bottles only had water in them. Actually much of the movie was staged for dramatic effect.

          • Deaner says:

Best part was Ozzy at home cooking scrambled eggs… When he poured the OJ, and it cut to the juice spilling everywhere but the glass… staged, but amazing

The singer from Odin sounds like Dr. Rockso

  5. This is is my favorite metal doc. Its got such an awesome ’80’s vibe to it. The best part is watching Paul Stanley stroke his ego on a bed packed with strippers.

    Seduce kicked ass.

  7. carntspel says:

Paul Mcartney said “Yellow Submarine” was a “period” piece from the late 60’s
then the Metal Years is a “period” piece from the late 80’s

  8. Matt says:

If that ending doesn’t make you fucking love Megadeth I don’t know what will

  9. Robbie says:

About 2/3rds of the way through it. Best part, by far, is the part about the “Devil Horns”. Holy. Crap. I probably woke the neighbors from laughing. Sorry lady, no matter how I do it, I can’t get three fingers to face down, or find all the sixes!

  10. carntspel says:

The Megadeth ending is truly majestic

I saw this movie in the theater when it came out. What a great time this was. Fun,fun, fun and more fun. It made me practice my drums to the point of driving my mom almost crazy. I miss it so much.

Thankfully those stupid poofy haircuts went out with that era!
