PAUL DI’ANNO FINDS IRON MAIDEN “BORING.” HE ALSO HATES BLOWJOBS.

From the “I swear to God I’m not bitter” files: former Iron Maiden singer Paul Di’Anno apparently went off during a Q&A in Argentina last month, comparing Steve Harris to Adolf Hitler for his (allegedly) tyrannical grip over the band, which Di’Anno also called “boring.”

First of all, there’s a lot of things you can call Maiden, but “boring” is not one of them. You’ll only find Maiden boring if you hate having fun. Or happen to have your panties in a twist because you’re not in the band anymore. And being in the band is the only worthwhile thing you ever did with your life. And it was decades ago. And you’re nowhere near death. And people won’t stop asking you about it.

Second of all – and I’m not just saying this as a Jew, but, rather, as a rational, thinking human – comparing a former band mate who (again, allegedly) isn’t willing to compromise to a dictator who started a war and killed millions of people based on their race or religion is, y’know, in poor taste at best. But mostly it just makes me think that Di’Anno is a moron who is exactly as successful as he deserves to be. Actually, he’s probably more successful than he deserves to be.

When reached for comment, Steve Harris responded “Who the fuck is Paul Di’Anno?”

Here’s video of Di’Anno securing his spot in fanboy hell. The offending comments come around the 6:25 mark.

He’s a dick. A bitter old nutsack who owes his entire “career” to Steve Harris. He says he wrote such great songs back then and the only one that made it to an album was “Killers”. Okay…then why have you toured the world (at least the countries he is allowed to enter) for decades playing Iron Maiden songs that you did not write? What a fucking poon handle.

  2. Fufkin says:

Well good to see his attitude still stinks, just in case we wondered why they got shot of him all those years ago.
I love it when he boasts about being a better songwriter than Harris. I just want to know what Paul’s done with all these great songs he writes…

  3. Revrant says:

I’m deeply amused that you could switch this around so he’s Dio and Harris is Ozzy.

  4. Chip Northcutt says:

I like Maiden but they did get boring after Powerslave. Boring compared to their earlier work, that is. Not saying they suck , only that they became repetitive. I prefer the Clive Burr stuff personally however I concede that Piece of Mind was a great album as well. Possibly he could have refered to Harris as “Dick Cheney” instead when conjuring one who is controlling (if Harris is indeed controlling). I have no idea about that but he has kept them commercially viable over a very long career, a great accomplishment.

    • Shadiq says:

u r the one who such .maiden never sucked after powerslave. infact they did much better work both before and after powerslave and in between too

  5. Wow. So hey Paul, where’s your millions of fans?

  6. Pat says:

Maybe he should talk to Neil Turbin

  7. groverXIII says:

I’m pretty sure Iron Maiden’s reputation speaks for itself… as does Paul Di’anno’s, actually. What a dumbass.

  8. Cougar Party says:

If Iron Maiden is boring I am not sure how I would describe your post-Maiden musical career, Paul. Irrelevant?

  9. SheWolf says:

Uh-oh. Someone call Whine One One.

  10. Sara says:

What a douche bag. He should go back to his house, put on the first two Maiden albums, and just weep like he wants to instead of talking shit about one of the best metal bands ever. It’s okay Paul…let it out…

  11. BattleHamster says:

Godwin’s Law: It’s not just for the internet!

  12. Damotello says:

I’m sure if you gathered every Di’Anno fan in one place it still wouldn’t equal the numbers of an average Maiden gig. Apparently ‘boring’ is the way to go if you want to secure your place as (arguably) the best metal band of all time. Then again, that’d make every metalcore band in history a contender.

  13. RobotScythe says:

Yeah, Maiden is so boring that Paul continues to use the Maiden name to promote himself. He can’t do ANYTHING without mentioning the fact that he used to be in Maiden. And Killers is considered to be one of the all time greatest metal albums of all time, now obviously due to Harris’ wise decision to use LESS Di’Anno material.

Another case of the “I used to be in a famous band but they are doing better without me” syndrome. Better songwriter than Harris?? I’ve heard Paul’s stuff..is he purposely holding back the good shit? Because I have yet to hear anything out of him that comes close to rivaling Maiden.

  14. I will say it would be hard to beg a news outlet for and interview and then get asked questions about Maiden. This guys careers over, he needs to face it.

    • RobotScythe says:

Yeah, but over the years the guy has been completely incapable to promote anything about himself without mentioing Maiden in the same breath. Then he has the nerve to get pissed when people ask him about Maiden.

  15. Noel says:

I dont know who the hell that guy is, but, ya, maiden IS boring. My opinion…respect em, but ehhhhhh

  16. 2kult4u says:

DiAnno is popular. I heard he sold a couple hundred thousand of his last record (worldwide). He can’t get into America so that may be why people here forget about him. Also he does use that IM card at every opportunity. But look at the Blaze Bayley era-material, that was all Steve Harris writing. Nobody is pumping X-Factor (or whatever). DiAnno definately lived (and is living, for a little while longer) a much cooler/intense RnR lifestyle. Maiden’s music is good but I would imagine they are boring people.

  17. SourDeez says:

I actually much prefer the Di’Anno material to the Dickinson stuff, but that guy is the portrait of a washed up has-been. I agree that Maiden’s new material is pretty boring and shitty, but when you’re seeing them perform it live it doesn’t even matter. I hated A Matter Of Life And Death but I saw them play it live and it was awesome. There’s nothing boring about watching a bunch of guys in their 50s running furiously around the stage, swinging their guitars, doing acrobatics, and fighting a giant Eddie. It’s like watching a great sporting event, except everyone wins. Any one member of Iron Maiden has about a hundred times the onstage energy of most entire bands half their age. I guess that’s what happens when you devote most of your energy to your live show instead of chugging JD bottles, sniffing massive lines of blow off of hookers and getting in drunken car wrecks. I saw an interview with Paul Di’Anno and I had no idea it was him until his name came up on the bottom of the screen. He’s seriously let himself go.

    • Cougar Party says:

Your exactly right. Maiden kills it live. They are way more animated and energetic than any other band i have ever seen. Sure some bands come out strong, but they tire after a few songs and resort to standing around breathless until they can build up enough energy to end the set strong. Playing live is exhausting and it is truly a testement to their legacy that they can out perform the very bands they influenced.

  18. Sammy says:

The only Di’Anno stuff I have (save for the first two Maiden albums) are stuff he gave away for free on his website. It’s mostly absolute crap. Not to mention he’s a total fat ass.

  19. DanyLektro says:

The interviewer to the right can do an up-close and personal interview in my pants.

–because nobody’ll do it with him XD

  20. Sammy says:

Oh yeah, and Di’Anno was kicked out of Maiden. He did not quit the band. He’s a lying loser.

  21. pokesmot says:

lol he looks like he should be doing wigger slam
he came to the states about 8 years ago and I had the displeasure of seeing him it was fucking awful
he has nothing on maiden Paul is just a bitter fucking faggot

  22. metalguy says:

for some reason i thought this guy died

  23. What’s great is that Paul Di’Anno even uses the Maiden font for posters, banners and anything else with his name on it when he tours Europe. Hah!

  24. Brandone53 says:

I’m sure Iron Maiden would get boring if your entire post-Maiden career consisted of shitty covers of ‘Wrathchild’ for every shitty Maiden tribute disc that passed by your desk.

  25. hibernum says:

Many years ago I was all set to go spend “An evening with Paul DiAnno” at the Irock nightclub where he would regale us with his Iron Maiden covers. It was supposed to be awesome. He was the crusty one, the punk who had short hair and wore jeans and leather jackets instead of faggey stretch pants. No falsetto. It was supposed to be so good.

The fucker couldn’t get into the country because he has an outstanding felony in the UK. So back to Canada he went, and I was frantically looking for info the night of the concert. Bullshit.

Did I ever tell you about the time I almost saw Corey Feldman live? Another one so close!

  26. CYN1C says:

What? Paul Di Anno was in that interview? All I saw was a questionably legal girl holding something phallic looking close to her mouth.

  27. Mike says:

where’s the part about the comparison between Hitler and Harris?

  28. dan says:

i wonder why that was such a good cd….. o ya because no one cares about your thought

  29. Dave Mustain / Metallica anybody?
Actually no, because as much of a turd as Mustaine is, he can at least play good music.
Killers album = great… Di’Anno = prick. I had the misfortune of meeting him last year. Again, he was spouting off about Maiden (I was wearing my Number of the Beast tee)… for a guy who supposedly doesnt give a shit, he doesnt half go on about it.

  30. Johnny Metal says:

Yeah Paul, because you’ve done so much since Maiden. You had a solo career…

…that went nowhere. How can you call Steve Harris greedy? He’s not playing your song, he’s playing HIS SONGS! I mean, Paul only co-wrote 5 songs for Maiden, & one didn’t even appear on an album!

  31. Brendan Snow says:

I love how the subtitles consistently refer to Steve Harris as Steve Harrison hahahaha
