here’s my take:

Deathcore as a whole is pretty bad, but consider how shitty most NWOBHM was. by shitty i of course mean, samey, repetitive, and uninspired. now consider how amny good bands came out of that wave… yeah. i am POSITIVE there are going to be some great bands that rise out of the deathcore wave, we just need to ride the trend out. to be honest i think most of those bands will probably BE from Sumerian.

speaking as a hardcore fan of old school black and death, and i mean entombed, emperor, and nifelheim, there is something In Deathcore that i have not heard in metal before much at all: a pop sensibility wihtout being remotely radio friendly. and THAT is a good thing. these tech death bands need to learn how to write hooks and choruses and marry it with their heaviness.

anyone who wrote beardcore is obv. dumb. anyone dissing on the thrash revival is also obviously dumb.

let’s be honest the screamo thing is the ONLY correct answer.

Sumeriancore will imrpove. give it two or three years and i guarantee you born of Osiris and The faceless will be something for american metalheads to be proud of.

also: bravo on the groove IS thrash debate. i agree.

You make a valid point, but i still think that alot of the smaller nuances are sometimes lost in tech death. don’t get me wrong, though, i still like alot of tech death bands, I just think they could be a lot better if they really explored the space abit more

i dont think screamo crunk needs to go away because theres not a lot of overlap between that scene and people who go see GOOD bands, however when you have to sit through 5 tech death bands or 5 deathcore bands that sound exactly the same and are opening for someone decent, it can be depressing

beardo/hipster metal would include ISIS, High On Fire, Baroness, The Sword,Mastodon, Neurosos and a lot of bands that Decibel features…all of which I love dearly. Not the most flattering name, but that’s what some kids are calling it.

Hipster/”beard” metal. It’s just retarded. Screamo-crunk isn’t what I consider metal (nor crunk, really, it’s a bunch of thin-skinned West Coast bitch kids moaning about their “horrible lives” more than anything – emo, without the black, I guess), rap-metal can be tolerable (I like Primer 55, fuck you), deathcore is already dying slowly, tech-death isn’t horrible, and re-thrash isn’t really popular enough to be bothered about right now.
