FAITH NO MORE, NOW RESTORED

Thursday, June 11th, 2009 at 10:15am by Axl Rosenberg

I won’t bore you with the specifics of the emotional fucking anguish I have been experiencing this week, but suffice to say, it has now come to this: I am currently enjoying quite the little cocktail of multiple substances all designed to help me relax. And while I do feel pretty dizzy and I’m having a hard time typing this and can’t figure out why the screen won’t stop moving, as though the images and words on the monitor were drifting listlessly across a lilting ocean, I do NOT feel sleepy and I do NOT feel less stressed out. Now it looks like my screen is in 3-D. That can’t be good.

But to stay on topic: even with all these legal and illegal pharmaceuticals in me, nothing made he feel happy happy joy joy until my RSS feed vomitted forth this headline from Blabbermouth:

FAITH NO MORE Kicks Off Reunion Tour; Setlist Revealed, Video Available

And now I can feel my shoulders loosen, crystallixed toxins forced out, my neck is relaxed, my head is light. And maybe that’s why it now appears that the words I am typing are growing ever closer and further away, but, hey, whatever ya call it, it’s grand.

Here’s some shitty videos from the gig:

HOLY SHIT, IT’S REAL! THEY REALLY PLAYED!!! FAITH NO MORE REALLY FUCKING PLAYED!!!!!!!!!!

Okay okay okay, and I know that some people like to be surprised by the setlist, but Metal Hammer got the setlist and we’re going re-print it here, so stop reading now if you don’t wanna see it.

    Blabbermouth Typo’d.

Track 14 is RV, not RX

  2. Zack says:

Wow, that set fucking rocks. I just woke up but it looks as if they played most of my favorite songs, even Malpractice. If I’m correct, that’s the first time they’ve ever played that live as a band (barring when Patton and Dillinger Escape Plan covered it).

  3. bucketochicken says:

I’m a big “Zombie Eaters” fan, but the fact they’ve reunited at all negates any minor setlist complaint one might have.

  4. Matt says:

Of course ‘Take this Bottle’ would have been great, and it would have worked with the outfits. Surprised by no ‘Digging the Grave’ though.

  5. Are they Metal or the Sucks part? I just don’t get them.

    • Zack says:

      Definitely the metal part.

Faith No More transcends petty genre classification. They are a fucking awesome band made up of amazing musicians that write original heavy music.

  6. Revrant says:

Lmfao, did you guys PURPOSELY choose to throw up only the more obscure of the set list to be hip or something?

I mean is it really down to that with you guys? Something as pedantic as that?

Man, anyway, nice to see them back in action, let’s hope this reignites their fire and they can put something out.

  7. Lord Bling says:

Amazing setlist. Goddamn I can’t wait until they announce US dates.

And to ‘We Love Metal’ — Most who grew up in the late 80’s worshipped (or at least respected) this band. It may not be ‘metal’ but they definitely share the ‘fuck you’ attitude. And Mike Patton cannot be stopped. This is a proven scientific fact.

  8. Mikeyboy says:

I was at the gig last night and it was awesome. Patton was well up for it, the setlist was just about everything I could have hoped for and they didn’t seem that rusty. My ears are still ringing big time.

  9. Senior Swanky says:

As much as those videos suck I think i just shed a tear seeing the real thing…(see what I did there, ZING). Please come to NYC!

  10. Wayne says:

Holy fuckfire, I want to see Faith No More so bad. Never got a chance back in the day.

Oh, and I hope you feel better, Axl.

  11. Bill says:

sooooo psyched for FNM. they were such a huge musical influence on me in my youth. sucks jim martin didn’t make it back, but whatever.

  12. RobotScythe says:

Cool setlist. But Ill be honest, Jim Martin not being there kind of takes the luster out of the reunion for me.

  13. SHERWOOD says:

Jim Martins absence is pretty much a non-issue for me..Jon Hudson rules…I do wonder where Jim is these days? Can’t wait to see them…

  14. loganarchy says:

If they hit my town, I’d still see them, but I’m amazed at the fact that they couldn’t fit ‘Digging the Grave’ into a 24-song, two-encore setlist. Plus, about half (or even more) of the songs on that setlist weren’t on their various Greatest Hits album. I’m all up for deep tracks, but no ‘Digging the Grave’ angers me.

    • loganarchy says:

Also should’ve played “We Care A Lot”(fucking LOVE that song), “As the Worm Turns” (an oldie), “Falling to Pieces,” “The Perfect Crime,” “Ashes to Ashes,” “The Cowboy Song,” and I wouldn’t expect it, but their cover of “War Pigs” would be nice.

  15. =lung= says:

lucky enough to have seen them on every tour.
and am chomping at the bit for them to play the states.
    setlist looks sweet.

take out “pristina” and throw in “mouth to mouth”.
    and it’s near perfect.

    my boner is fully engorged.

  16. badluckfistfuck666 says:

HOLY FUCkIN’ SHIT!!! They sound goddamn amazing but,no “Digging The Grave” OR “Ugly In The Morning”? WTF?!?

  17. alexwank says:

i was fortunate enough to be at this gig….. words do not suffice. all for 35 squid too!

set list was a bit of a trip. i’m more of a fan of the latter 2 records than the 1st 2 full lengths, so it could’ve been a bit better for me. but i was hanging out to hear stripsearch and it came along in the first encore and didnt disappoint…
no digging the grave though? what a gip ! couldve done w/ ricochet and collision instead of some of the cover/more obscure songs.
cuckoo for caca was the highlight. that song slays live. shit indeed lives forever

i am no patton fanboy but after experiencing last night’s gig, i have no qualms in saying that guy is the best singer in heavy music. he’s just un-fucking-believable..

  18. Angel dust is still in my rotation of daily albums, spread of songs are so unique, wish i had knew about this gig, hoping for more gigs near me!… FAITH NO MOOOOORE!!!

  19. Cam says:

The dude at the beginning of The Real Thing video sounds like he just climaxed haha. Can’t blame him though, they really need to play in the States.

  20. davefilmguy says:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLAY THE STATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Jimmy says:

Shit yeah, Faith No More concert is to be streamed tomorrow. *thrusts*

  22. lolwut says:

hot damn 2 encores….. i remember when i first head about these guys i was a wee little boy, i liked epic it was the only song i new of them at the time id play that song on my cd untill i couldnt stand it : D

  23. Julio says:

“Jizzlobber” was played, therefore it was a perfect setlist.
