A METALSUCKS EXCLUSIVE CONTEST: DESIGN YOUR OWN SLIPKNOT MASK, WIN A VINYL COPY OF ALL HOPE IS GONE

MetalSucks is proud to be teaming with Roadrunner Records to give away two (2) VINYL copies of Slipknot’s awesome 2008 release, All Hope is Gone, in what we think is one of our coolest contests ever. Here are the rules:
- Design your own Slipknot mask. This should NOT just be a variation of a pre-existing mask – your assignment is to design a whole new mask, not, say, just a new mask for Clown or another member of the band.
- Post your design or a link to your design in our comments section below. MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER FOR THE COMMENTS WITH A VALID E-MAIL ADDRESS, as the winners will be contacted via e-mail.
- You can do the design with Photoshop, as a collage, with pen, pencil, paint, magic marker, crayon, poop smears – whatever you want. The only rule is that it has to be original and it has to look cool.
- Axl and Vince will choose their two favorite mask designs. The creators of those designs will each win a vinyl copy of All Hope is Gone.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO U.S. RESIDENTS ONLY.

Well I’m a great fan of Slipknot and would appreciate it if I won the contest well as I say on Myspace I’m deprived of music at my house cuz my mom doesn’t let me listen to Slipknot at my house since they are, as they might call them, “ignorant people that care more about their masks than the music” and since I live with my mom only, dad’s in jail, I have to listen to whatever she says and while she’s gone to work and I’m alone at my house I listen to Slipknot ^^………………Stay (sic) maggots

Ok. So this was very Slipknot inspired. I made this mask for my Halloween costume last year. I must say I really liked the way it came out. I say that because I actually made little kids cry with the whole get up on.
I based my mask on Corey and Joey’s masks. The creepy white mask of Joey’s with the disturbing blacked out eye of Corey’s. I also cut the bottom jaw off and reattached it with elastic so that it would move when I talked. Didn’t work to well, but it still looks pretty cool.

DUDE WHAT KIND OF MATERIAL DID U USE?IT`S PRETTY GOOD
I used one of the plain white masks that you can buy during Halloween. Some craft stores carry them year round. I used a strings that I got a the craft store that has some sort of reflective matriel in it. I used regular bug screen to black out the one eye. And I cut a shape out above the one eye then took a lighter to it an melted it.

Okay. I’ve seen two really good masks. The one with the two different eyes and bunch of straps, and the wooden one that was near the top. The others look like really odd renditions of hockey masks, or just general halloween masks. Now, I’m not saying mine’s so much better than the rest, since it’s a drawing, but it looks like some people could’ve put a lot more effort into these. Maybe I just have really high expectations, but it’s also probable that the real masterpieces won’t be entered until the last minute, using every spare minute to make them more perfect. So I’m also trying to see if maybe I could get my mask made, but that’s not much time, and I don’t have a budget large enough to make it look great. So. Anyways. Whoever wins, congratulations. not all that fantastic but it’s all that came to mind
this mask is suppose to be kinda like a porcelain doll face but the right side seems to have broken off.
the left side for me represents the falsity of everyday people always giving their fake smiles to the world and the eye on this side is covered by mesh kinda like coreys new mask. the right side of the mask stands for what people really are on the inside: angry, sad, depressed, lost etc. the side of one that people never see.
