AT THE DRIVE-IN HOPPING ON REUNION BANDWAGON?

at the drive-in[Update: Jim Ward tells Buzzgrinder a reunion isn't in the cards for him.]

Call it the latest in a long-line of inevitable reunions — At The Drive-In may be satiating my wish to get back together, reports ChartAttack.com:

Former At The Drive-In frontman and current Mars Volta singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala hinted that an ATDI reunion may be his next on his agenda in a recent interview with Drowned In Sound.

“We’ve been making amends with a lot of the members and giving some really good talks with them,” said Bixler-Zavala. “I wouldn’t mind it.”

“Y’know, it might happen, we just have to iron out a lot of personal things,” he continued. “A lot of it we’ve dealt with already and I’ve apologised for a lot of things I’ve said and the way it ended…we’ll see what happens.”

We’ll see what happens indeed. Mars Volta have their new album Octahedron — which comes out June 23rd — to promote, so it stands to reason that it’ll be at least until the end of this album cycle before any potential ATDI reunion comes to fruition (barring an unforeseen MV implosion).

I would wholeheartedly, emphatically support this reunion — can we please all just agree that everything The Mars Volta have done since De-Loused in the Comatorium has been complete garbage and everything Sparta have done since… becoming a band has been complete garbage? On with it already, lads.

    I will crap E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E….everywhere.

  2. bucketochicken says:

Agree on the “garbage since Deloused” part and the “crapping everywhere” part.

Oh fuck, Faith No More is starting. I’m out,

  3. keepitwolf says:

fucking agreed 100%. deloused was the last good volta album and sparta has always been god awful. the new volta octahedron is probably the best album since deloused. i would cum my pants if i saw atdi play relationship of command live

  4. jason says:

Potientally the best news i’ve heard all day…

  5. Ross says:

Frances the Mute was a great album. Everything after that is pretty weak.

  6. Zack says:

I disagree, I like all the Volta records but at the same time Relationship of Command/Tremulant/Deloused in the Comatorium are the three best releases Omar and Cedric, et al. have ever been involved with.

  7. Cisco says:

MV rocks, all of their album have been stellar, yes even Amputecure. Just my opinion though, I can see why everybody agrees that De-Loused was their last good record.

  8. tom cash says:

This is like the tenth site I’ve read this news on and I still get excited and click on the link every time. They better get back together.

  9. The Mighty Fucking Quinn says:

My genitals are tingling. But I did like Sparta.

  10. ZapBranigan says:

Frances the Mute was fucking fantastic too. Amputechture…not so much. I’ve seen them live several times and was even disappointed by the live album.

  11. Tier says:

Most of the stuff Mars Volta has done has been Good Tier albeit not on the level of Deloused which is in fact God Tier. If they can reform and put out another album like Relationship of Command then I’m all for a reunion.

  12. Yeah I also liked Deloused but after that it got hard to find any real music in their albums. More than likely it was wedged somewhere between their heads and their collective rectal wall.

At the Drive-In will always be a fond remembrance from highschool and I would welcome the reunion for the sole purpose that I only got into them after they broke up.

the problem is that tmv have only continued to release flaccid, watered down versions of “deloused”. i mean, don’t get me wrong. “deloused” was wanky as fuck, but at least it was something different, relatively speaking. i mean, sure they were a sloppier, world-music influenced led zeppelin, but in comparison to 50 cent, toby keith, & coldplay, they were like a breath of fresh air. ever since though, it’s been redundant, pointless album after redundant, pointless album. tmv said absolutely everything they needed to say as a band musically on their first release. there has been, literally, no progression from “comatorium” to their most recent. it is all the same, pointless, wank nonsense. which is hilarious, because that’s just what cedric and omar were trying to avoid with at the drive in.

all the other bands that are reuniting fucking suck, ATDI getting back together is the biggest news this site reported on in the last month………….nevermind they covered the Brett Michaels trying to make out with a peice of the stage incident, anyways ATDI was fucking awesome and if they get back together we can only hope for a tour

  14. Motoghost says:

I agree about Sparta, but I’m good with MV.

  15. Metdude says:

I actually think Octahedron is the best album these guys have released yet. I also really like The Bedlam In Goliath and De-Loused In The Comatorium. While they are pretty good on CD, they really need to improve their live shows. I saw them last year and they played 10 songs in nearly 3 hours. That’s just fucking bullshit. There’s no need to make these songs 5 times longer than they were originally. It’s such a shame they did this shit as they really it give it to their all when they play.

  16. yanky says:

    sorry people i love bedlam
everyone semms to feel comfortable with deloused
but bedlam is way fuckin better

  17. John says:

    BONER

  18. Manaces says:

Frances the Mute is better than de loused and the song Wax simulacra is fucking good

and if you dont like their show live is because you are not in drugs
