MS Maniac David H. sent us this phenomenal power metal version (!) of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl,” done with the original vocal track on top of instruments all performed by Andy Xiong. I kinda liked the original version of this song (shhhhh!) but this version turns it up to 11. Nice work, Andy!
Stick with it until the ripping Mercenary-style guitar and keyboard solos.

The guitar solo was fantastic but I didn’t care for the rest of the song.

Irritating as this song still is (despite the addition of a sweet guitar/keyboard/guitar solo) I’m pretty sure this is now going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the night. Thanks a bunch, MetalSucks.
Holy shit, it actually sounds like power metal. Not like some shitty mixup. I can practically hear Roy Khan singing that melody. Plus a good portion of Kamelot’s later songs are more or less about kissing a girl.

I find it hilarious that people get into heated arguments over real metal bands, but the vast majority of the comments about this are positive.
I find it hilarious that this blog often states how much it hates Metal covers of pop songs but likes not only this cover but the original as well. I have nothing against the original and Katy Perry next to a dragon is awesome. All she needs is a Boris Vellejo-style outfit.

the solos shit, then its good for about 10 seconds, then shit again.. and so on
this dude is a phenomenal guitar player, I have seen him play live twice, and although Leviathan(his band) was the first band to play twice, the have always kicked ass. I mean I saw them with Warbringer, and Luna Mortis (solos on youtube) and they were the best local band that night
