i didn’t say they invented southern rock. I said they started the trend. since they went big, countless imitators have popped up – most of them have fizzled out. there WAS no southern rock/southern metal sound you’d hear at shows.. until maylene.

This album is what I expected it to be. They get more and more original the longer they stay around. I love their first album, but their musical talent is broader than the git nasty sound they produced on their first run. All I know is my foot never stops tappin to the music and thats what makes for good listening, when you dont lose interest in the song and skip to the next.

Was kind of hoping for things to be a little bit heavier than the first two songs they’ve let loose, but the riffage is still good. I miss Dallas actually screaming. It seems like they’re most interested in being catchy than being nasty.

I’ve had the album “II” for a while and I think it’s pretty damn bad-ass, overall and I still jam it frequently. I think these guys are a cut above the other southern-metall/rock sound-alike bands that are out there (Artimus Pyledriver, I’m looking at you). I like their style and their whole “hillbilly-outlaw-on-the-run” Ma Barker thing they’ve got going is pretty interesting and is a little different, but different in a way that I like. Looking forward to the new album.
