OH FUCK YES: NEW LIVING COLOUR ALBUM ON THE WAY

Monday, June 22nd, 2009 at 10:10am by Axl Rosenberg

Let’s cut the bullshit: there’s gonna be a new Living Colour album, The Chair in the Doorway, released September 15 on Megaforce Records.

A new Living Colour album is always good news, and this is now officially one of both mine and Vince’s most heavily anticipated albums of the year. Get very, very excited.

Here the band doing “Desperate People” off their debut album, Vivid.

Have I mentioned how much I FUCKING LOVE THIS BAND?!?!

These guys do no wrong. I have absolutely no negative things to say about them at all.

  2. Jimmy says:

Cult of Personality is a classic, but the rest of the album Vivid didnt stand out to me much.

To be honest, it was a long time ago and I listened to it maybe twice. I should try to get into them more.

    • Lord Bling says:

Jimmy, go back and give it another spin. Cult of Personality is the strongest song on the album, and a few tracks feel a little ‘poppy’ when you hear them now, but give it another try. I think it may grow on you. It did with me.

    • Noel says:

try times up or stain, they are muuuuuuch better. less poppy.

I wouldn’t say I’m excited, but definitely curious to hear it. I’m hoping there is a lot of shred. After such an absence lets hope there is a wealth of good material on this new one.

commongoodbooks: I was just telling my co-workers about seeing Living Color and Stereo MCs in Berlin in 1990. Feel old. Really old. And lame as well.

steventurous: @commongoodbooks I saw Living Colour at UMass in 1991. My now-wife was 9 at the time. THAT makes me feel old.

commongoodbooks: @steventurous Even though I’m pretty sure I’m older than you, I think you win this one.

livingcolour: @steventurous think how we feel! haha

    Fuck these niggers

  10. Sammy says:

The thing you have to keep in mind with Living Colour is that they never set out to me a metal or even hard rock band. They used all of their various influences, including but not limited to pop and funk, then packaged it in the form of guitar-oriented rock. The result is flat-out kick ass music that is sometimes metal and sometimes not. To which I say, Who cares? Miles Davis wasn’t rock or metal, but the talent was blow your mind evident.

  11. Sammy says:

Wait, I just went back and re-read the post. Megaforce Records?? That probably bodes well for this album being heavy, and I always preferred LC when they hit it heavy.

  12. Leprosy says:

can anybody name 2 songs by living colour?

  13. Glenn says:

Great opening riff (though why Vern lets it hang, I don’t know), but the Stain album will always be my favorite.

  14. Noel says:

holy shit, i thought i was the last LC fan ever. wow. awsome. times up is the best.

  15. MiST says:

I love Living Colour, they’re one of those bands i make sure i listen to one of their albums at least once in a week

  16. BEARDY says:

is that axel rosenburg in the audience mildly jamming out in to the old guys on stage
