    Holy hell…thats is..well…damn

  2. bearbomb says:

Very metal. Wasn’t he the first to rock the double neck?

  3. fuzzyshan says:

Awesome, the guitar parts remind me of hog bitch stomp by buckethead.

  4. bucketochicken says:

His billfold says BAD MOTHERFUCKER on it, and contains a slightly smaller billfold stamped with the words SERIOUSLY, I’M NOT KIDDING.

Makes me wanna blast The Hellecasters. Or Junior Brown.

    Awesome post. Thanks!

  5. Sammy says:

Insane right hand. Metal rhythm guitarists could learn a lot. Reminds me of old Les Paul (the guitarist) videos.

    Metal.

  6. seveword says:

Expect Dragonforce to release a country album soon.

  7. dicknballs says:

Dude, his mandolin was tuned to drop A!!! Fucking br00talz fiddle too!!

Seriously though that was pretty badass, there’s quite a bit of awesome shred-goodness in country… like bucketochicken suggested, Junior Brown is fucking bad ass. Good find for a Friday!

Also go back and listen to some of Dick Dale’s shredding surf tunes and imagine them with a little distortion. These kind of things were most definitely very early influences to modern shred type stuff. It had to come from somewhere. There are a million chickin pickin’ bluegrass and country players out there that would sound crazy with an Ibanez and a half stack. I have always wanted to hear Brad Paisley plug into a huge double stack rig with a death metal pedal and see what happens.

    kvlt!!!

  10. Permafrost says:

Nice choice. Good to not only see that but to read that some y’all metalheads share similar appreciation!

  11. TurdFerguson says:

He’s no Unknown Hinson, but he’ll do.

  12. groverXIII says:

Pretty badass, and the fact that he switched instruments so many times without it breaking his concentration at all is impressive.

Makes me want to bust out some psychobilly, or some of John 5’s solo stuff. The bluegrass bits of his albums are a great contrast to the heavier stuff.

  13. RyanK says:

    What a badass.

  14. Nate L. says:

ahahah this guy is straight rippin

  15. wormdrive says:

nice, check out Danny Gatton if you like rock and roll guitar.

  16. 5 says:

I gotta play like that like that! (speed and style)

I’m like Kirk Hammet fast already, but this guy’s playing is just so fluent

    • WeAreChuckNorris says:

      NO Disrespect 5…

Like every other kid, I grew up listening to Metallica…AJFA is my fav. although I won’t deny the influence of the 3 albums prior to that…

But Kirk Hammet, apart from nailing down a few unforgettable solos, especially on the slower tracks, IMHO is a rubbish guitar player…he’s sloppy too.

i am speechless. That was amazing

  18. Bill says:

somewhere, herman li sheds a single tear…….

  19. buntdaddy says:

Swisgard would say that is very metals.

  20. Thor Jr. says:

HA I was waiting for him to just start tappin’ the shit out out that banjo….. Too busy pickin’….. and singin’

  21. WeAreChuckNorris says:

HAAAA, I can’t stand most of the country music I’ve heard, maybe because I am NOT American, nor do I have access to good shit like this; not that I would start getting into it or anything like that because Rusty Cooley and the likes are more my cup of tea…gotta have distortion too…

BUT, Goddamn, look at his fingers, the length of them fuckers…might as well give up playing while my hands are still worth something.

  22. Dutchguy says:

Cool video. I saw that Bear Family (the German purveyors of fine, fine country and rock ‘n roll boxsets) released a few things of Joe. Might pick those up some time.

Also, glad to see some love for country shredders such as Junior Brown. Saw him a few years ago, and it was fucking fantastic.

  23. dave says:

Check out Speedy west and Jimmy Bryant.. Those guys are amazing as well…

  24. BlakMetallistKrieg says:

Yeah, this guy also has connections with Merle Travis, too. Both were shred buddies!

  25. Flying Dad Bomb says:

How about being that guy’s roadie, having to go through giving him instrument after instrument and hoping not to screw it up?

In all seriousness, though, my jaw just dropped to the floor throughout the whole vid. This is as epic as it can get!
