EXCLUSIVE WORLD PREMIER: DAATH’S NEW VIDEO FOR “DAY OF ENDLESS LIGHT”
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 at 1:00pm by MetalSucksRaise your hand if you’ve listened to Daath’s new record The Concealers. Through my telepathic e-screen abilities I know that there are not nearly enough hands in the air right now, because a) you’re not stupid enough to actually raise your hands because an Interweb article said said so, b) your hands are probably on your dicks at the moment as you wait for that p0rn torrent to finish downloading, c) not nearly e-fucking-nough of you have heard this ridiculously great record! Like, seriously, The Concealers has quite possibly gotten the most spins on my iPod in the past few months, right up there with Earthsblood and Crack the Skye. It’s silly good!
So when the band came to us and asked us to host the world premier of their new music video for “Day of Endless Light,” we were more than happy to oblige. The track is one of the heavier and faster tracks on The Concealers but it’s still got that swaggery Daath groove. The video was directed and animated by Robin Fuller. Check it out below.
Also check out the fan-made video for the track “Duststorm,” guitarist Eyal Levi’s MetalSucks column Jumping Darkness Parade and our interview with Eyal from a couple of months back. And of course, don’t forget to catch Daath with Goatwhore, Abigail Williams, Abysmal Dawn and Success Will Write Apocalypse Across the Sky, on tour in the U.S. now! We’re giving away one free ticket to each tour date.

whats with the low quality video encode?
pretty sick video tho
Dope shit!
OH!! That track is my favorite ear rape these days!! mmmmmmmmmhhhhhhh!! Sweeeeet!!
So, there are a couple of apparent things that I keep noticing with this band… a) They are one of the most repetitive metal acts to date and sound just like everything else to the point where I couldn’t tell them apart from anybody that would consider themselves in the same genre, b) Just as I was about to fall asleep watching this video (which was one of the most boring things I’ve ever watched), I was caught off-guard by an amazing jazz mini-interlude, only to be dozed back off as their “kick, snare, kick, snare” chorus(?) came back in for a third appearance. Fact of the matter is is I don’t understand why they’re getting all this attention on this website, because they don’t match anywhere close to the caliber of the vast majority of the bands mentioned on here. Daath, you’re boring, go away.
“Daath, you’re boring, go away.”
Amen to that.
I’m glad somebody actually agrees… There was so much hype behind them, and I honestly think they’re just garbage.
indubitably
I lump them in with Chimaira – 2nd or 3rd tier, dumbed-down generic metal with way too much hype. I don’t think I’d care so much if there wasn’t so much hoopla surrounding them, but they’re constantly shoved in my face – I can’t stand it. Kevin Talley is one of my favorite drummers from his time with Dying Fetus and Misery Index, but I just can’t get behind this.
too bad. you’re missing out.
this is one of my favorite albums right now
They are actually pretty good, might check them out someday.
A typical heavy metal video, nothing out of average.
I think for the most part, a lot of people are stuck back in Futility days and judge Daath on that album, which is not a great album at all. How can you really call them repetitive when their second and third album is way different from their first? In fact, I doubt if any of you that are talking trash have really even listened to them much at all.
YES!! Great video. Top notch.
Excellent art work and imagery– I love the fact that the album coverart manifests itself in the video so many times and in so many ways.
love this song, favorite off of ‘The Concealers’ for sure.
I separated them from other death metal bands coz I couldn’t believe there were tracks like “dead on the dance floor” and “who will take the blame”. lol
But new album told me they actually still sound like many death metallers out there. Not saying “The Concealers” is bad. Just not a trend I expected.
Thought that was pretty damn cool!
best band in metal in the last 10 years
