I have nothing against music just because it’s poppy. Although most poppy music sucks, that doesn’t mean it all does. Being commercial doesn’t automatically make something shit, it’s just that those two things (commercial and shitty) USUALLY go hand in hand. The Foos have some pretty lame singles, but they’ve also got some good songs that got radio airplay. All My Life is a good example. That’s just some kickass rock and roll. I guess unlike most serious metalheads I don’t despise hooks. I wish more good music was popular.

This is going to be so good. Grohl is the man, loved that he did a whole album with Killing Joke as well…who I think are a very underrated band. Probot was sick as well, and although I could never really get into Queens of the Stone Age too much I like some of their stuff. And Zeppelin is well…Zeppelin. So this should/will own.

Did anyone besides me buy the Diamanda Galas & John Paul Jones/ The Sporting Life album?
That chick is super-fucked(in a good way), what with her 4 octave range and just plain scary persona PLUS Zeppelinesque bass grooves AND a killer drummer.
Track one off that album scares the shit outta the cat every time she hits those high notes.

No, I’m not likening FF to POM, but they’re both played on the same radio station playlists.

And you clearly missed my point. The point was that this site is usually filled with hate towards any band or artist that “makes it” and sells over 35 albums, hence my surprise at the Foo Fighters love (and Tool). I don’t personally dislike Foo Fighters.

I know Captain Beyond made the point earlier, but I’m always surprised at your love for Foo Fighters. I don’t hate them, but their “corporate radio” poppy, rocky, metally, alty music is tailor-made for the radio sound you guys so despise. And you don’t even couch it in terms of “guilty pleasure”.
