Thought I'd post this in an *attempt* to clear a couple things up since there seems to be some confusion. I produced the new record for Chuck and he's also been a friend of mine for about 10 years.

1) Anyone who thinks Chuck is releasing this record because FNM reunited is incorrect. Chuck signed with my production company 3 years ago and we've been working on the record (on and off) for the past two years or so... on and off.. as time allowed.

FNM decided to reunite and tour well after Chuck's album was in the works. Chuck is still good friends with Roddy and they speak on a regular basis.. Roddy also played on Chuck's record.. Chuck knew about the FNM reunion a couple of months before the public announcement was made. Chuck's record was already nearly complete (aside from a couple of guest appearances and some mixing) when Roddy told Chuck about the reunion... Roddy had already tracked his parts by then as well.. Everyone in FNM was well aware that Chuck was working on this record long before they decided to do the reunion tour.

The plan was always to release Chuck's record this summer (it would have been out two months ago if there hadn't been delays with clearances for the guest appearances). If anything, the little buzz Chuck's album was starting to generate *may* have even helped, in some small way, to encourage the FNM reunion to move forward. It definitely wasn't the other way around though and I think it's important for people to know that.

2) As a few people have mentioned, Chuck *is* releasing this record because he loves music. He's wanted to put a new record out for a long time (over a decade) but between his cooking (as someone mentioned, he is a killer cook), raising his two kids, and the fact that some asshole "producer" ripped him off for $15k ten years ago when he TRIED to make the record on his own back then, it was unfortunately delayed. Even back then, I loved Chuck's writing and I promised him that, if I ever had the ability to fund and release a record for him, I would because I thought people should hear the songs.

I eventually signed him and funded the record myself because I, personally, think Chuck's a great writer with a really interesting voice (one that actually communicates feeling and emotion) and a ton of character and attitude. More than I can say for most "artists" these days. People will either love him or hate him. I'm expecting very little in between and Chuck feels the same way.

3) The title "Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food" is a fucking joke! Including the remake of WCAL, there are maybe 3 instances of anything even resembling "rapping" on this album (mostly just bits and pieces at that). This is basically Chuck joking about himself, his past, the whole rap/rock genera. Chuck's a funny guy and he has a great sense of humor about everything... including his own past, what happened with FNM, everything... He's one of the most honest, most *real* people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. It's refreshing and I think it translates into his music.

4) Mike Patton -vs- Chuck Mosley arguments are silly. Mike Patton was a FAN of the Chuck era FNM records so he obviously enjoyed and respected what Chuck did with the band... He has expressed this to Chuck personally so there's really no debate to be had there.

Chuck has said, multiple times, that Mike's "technically" a better vocalist. He gets it and he has plenty of respect for Mr. Patton. Chuck's got his own thing though. It's not a war or a competition though... Mike and Chuck are both extremely talented in their own right and, for what it's worth, I don't think either one of them really enjoys seeing negative comments about the other... I know Chuck doesn't like to see his "fans" saying awful things about Mike.. I can only assume the opposite would be true as well.

From what I know, they both respect each other... There is no feud between them as some people seem to want to insist. I think it's funny that they actually respect each other and get along but their fans can't seem to do the same thing!

5) In terms of how the record sounds... We didn't set out to make some ultra-modern record.. For the most part, it's just a big, unapologetic rock record... We were not concerned with making it sound cutting edge or even, necessarily "current" for that matter. Chuck wasn't interested in sounding like everyone else sounds right now.. With a few exceptions, he doesn't like most of what's going on right now anyway so trying to conform to that would be pretty hypocritical. For me, personally, this was refreshing and I think the record's better (and more fun) as a result. If some people take this as sounding "dated", that's cool... there were a lot of great records made in the 80's and 90's and I think that kind of influence is evident on this record... Just know it wasn't an accident! :)

---

In the end, I hope people give this record a shot and take it for what it is. It's not a FNM record and Chuck's not Mike Patton (nor is he trying to be).. I really love what Chuck does or I wouldn't have done the record.. I think there are a lot of other people out there who will enjoy it as well.. Just as I'm sure there are plenty of people who won't like it at all.. Variety is a wonderful thing!

I can say that, so far, the response has been overwhelmingly positive and Chuck is really grateful for the support.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you guys may have about the record. Feel free to email me.

I have no doubt that Jim Martin could rip the axe and I love his work with FNM.(I gotta check out EZ street/Agents of Misfortune) I just disagree with your statement. Honestly, to say that the trippier side of FNM's sound was direcly related to Martin's influence sorely overlooks Patton's experimentation with Mr. Bungle(prior to FNM),which, later on took form in his work with John Zorn, Fantomas,etc..(the list goes on & on).

Sorry, dude...Mike Patton is fucking brilliant & without him FNM would have never been the creative force that they were.

BTW...Pumpkins are great. I love baking the seeds with salt AND I had no idea that he grows them.

I didn't really like Chuck's vocals on the older albums, IMO Patton made them much better, plus he wrote a lot of guitar on Angel Dust and King for a Day. This solo stuff from Chuck is sounding really good though, but I have no idea why he's calling himself a Rapper at all because I haven't detected a rap in either one of those tracks on myspace? Oh well, I guess we'll let him call himself whatever he wants, and those who read a book by its cover will never hear how good those tracks are. Cudos Chuck!

Guess you never heard EZ Street (later Agents of Misfortune) which featured Martin and Cliff Burton? Furthest thing from "run-of-the-mill metal..." In fact, the trippier aspects of FNM, which made them so unique, stem from directly Martin's influence.

You can have K4AD... and AOTY. I'll gladly take WE CARE A LOT, INTRODUCE YOURSELF, THE REAL THING, and ANGEL DUST any day.

Besides, who doesn't love a pumpkin grower?

BTW, Jim Martin is, was, and will always be the heart & soul of FNM.

Sorry, I have to disagree. Maybe if you wanted FNM to be another run-of-the-mill metal band.

Congratulations! Did you see Chuck front FNM? Complete and utter insanity, a true ringleader, and one infectious SOB. Patton came across as someone wanting to be John Lydon + Steve Perry. Uninspired pretty-boy posturing more akin to CC DeVille than Henry Rollins.

Ignorant, no. Opinionated, yes.

I agree... And to say that Patton isn't as entertaining in a live setting is fairly ignorant. I saw 'em in Florida on their "KFADFFL" tour and Patton was a complete fucking nut but could still hold a note. They went from "The Art of Making Enemies" right into "Easy" and they nailed both songs. I nearly pissed myself like a little excited puppy. I also caught "Angel Dust" w/ Helmet in Massachusetts - They were Fucking Awesome Live!!

Imagine the hate if Patton would have fronted Bad Brains. Oh well, at least they could have scored that "Buffy" soundtrack gig.

BTW, Jim Martin is, was, and will always be the heart & soul of FNM.

And don't forget, Cliff Burton was a huge Chuck Mosley fan as well.

Oh, is that why when Chuck (with his "crusty skate punk vocal style") tried to front for the Bad Brains he got beer bottles thrown at him?

I'm not surprised that someone would pick Mosley over Patton if they are stuck on FNM's worst song.
The rest of that album was dynamic & they do a killer bluesy rendition of War Pigs. BUT, FNM's greatest masterpiece which showcases Patton's uber vocalism( & highlights Mosley's lack of talent & his inability to make any progress as a musician) would be a toss up between "Angel Dust" & "KFADFFL".
