i do hate it when they skip the chicago area. I was very close to driving 5-6hrs to Nashville because i fucking love the shit out of In Flames but i didnt have the money at the time >_<. Mabey nxt year.

I saw In Flames play right before Lamb of God on a tiny stage at a festival in Oz earlier this year and although they didnt play as much old stuff as I would have liked, they had awesome stage presence and played a killer set. They even seemed to really enjoy playing still after all these years.

I’ll be going, but god damn, The Faceless are horrible live, probably one of the biggest disappointments live I have ever seen. Last I saw them was on the tour with Obscura and Cannibal Corpse.

First off, I don’t know why I like Gojira but I do, secondly, In Flames has sucked since Reroute to Remain, I saw BtBaM at Progressive Nation, and they bored the shit out of me, Faceless and 3IOB are also just generic.

Closest show for me is in Nashville, five hours away but I might go.
I love In Flames and almost any set list will be good for me.
And I do like “Color”s from BTBAM although I dont like it as much as I used to.

They played NYC last tour (December). It’s silly to play in the same city on two consecutive tours so close to each other.

Yeah, despite the quality of BTBAM, The Faceless, Gojira or whoever else, none of these bands have CLASSIC songs that are sure to fire up a crowd like an In Flames set will. Despite what you may think of In Flames’ recent records, the band is pretty damn close to “legendary” status in metal circles. The other bands mentioned may get to that level, but they aren’t there yet.

It seems that skipping NYC and just playing Starland in Jersey is the new trend among touring metal bands, and it friggin’ sucks. I guess bookers think that because of Starland’s location that both NYC and Jersey people will both come (and maybe certain NYC venues are difficult to work with for some reason?), but that’s not the case for me, and plenty of other NYC and Long Island folks I have spoken to. I know that I have deciding against going to quite a few great shows for the reason of not wanting to trek to Jerz-y, and I know I’m not alone. Is it that difficult to book Starland AND an NYC show? It’s not like they won’t draw huge crowds at BOTH. ::/

I’ll agree when I saw Gojira open for In Flames in Vancouver they were nothing short of incredible, but to say they blew away In Flames.. well I have to disagree. Not because they aren’t as good as In Flames, because they definitely deserve to have their name uttered in the same breath. In Flames played a lot of their old stuff, and anyone who knows anything about In Flames knows that their old shit is some of the best shit ever. So as great as Gojira is now, old In Flames > Gojira. Nuff said.
