These guys fucked up real bad by letting James Murphy go. I couldn’t stand that ridiculous excuse for a guitar player they had after him. My greatest hope is that this will half as good as “Cause of Death”.

that “best ever album closer” left to die is from an ep they put out last year and just slapped on here along with forces realign. and i don’t get that crown reference, unless you mean that in the sense of simply being a death metal tune that kinda y’know, rocks, like the crown.

In my opinion, Obituary had some good stuff in the late 80s, early 90′s, but shouldn’t have released anything after 1993. Good review though, I’m always glad to see a reviewer who doesn’t just hand out great ratings to every classic band that is still writing.

I heard bad things bout the album. Executioner’s Return had its moments but was relatively weak. Frozen in Time was good though, not the best album around but it had some real solid tracks. Obituary just seem like a tired band wanting to please its fans,

Agreed about the text, but they did give it 3 1/2 out of 5, so I guess it is? Maybe? :) I was a huge Obituary fan growing up, but was disappointed with their comeback albums. Still though, I may have to give this a spin.

I love this CD, but you’re right about Donald’s lack of presence on this. it seems like he was on an Andrew WK flashback or something and didn’t need to show any skill.
