since nobodys said anything on this post and you brought up arguing, id like to say i abso-fucking-lutely hate Judas Priest. and im not saying anything about halford when i say they are the gayest metal band. Painkiller (song) is alright just because the whole song is a showcase of how good talented the band is. imean c’mon Breaking the law is one of the worst songs ive ever heard. how is this any different from hair metal?
Stop listening to the main stream priest and check out the rest of them.. Their is a reason they are the God of Metal and its not anything to do with Breakin the Law.
Thanks for the bit of greatness sunshine. Happy life!
Apparently MetalGuy cannot read. The header up top clearly states to leave a comment on the new Judas Priest album.
Im sure no one really cares about your personal preference man. If you dont like Judas Priest than why bother commenting? Im guessing that you’re are nothing but another Blabbermouth.net hater that hides behind his monitor stirring up trouble when in fact should be at school
THE NEW PRIEST LIVE ALBUM IS KILLER! PURE EXCELLENCE!
Amen, a true Defender of the Faith .
Haha, laaaame, but good support.
Seriously though, they’re right, mainstream Priest doesn’t really showcase that Judas Priest is like. I think a pretty nice introduction to them is (ironically enough to the post above) Defenders Of The Faith. Give the album a listen and see if you change your mind, Painkiller is a great showcase of their talent, but Faith is an excellent example of how their talent goes completely around their mainstream stuff.
I thought Screaming For Vengeance was their best album, to be perfectly honest.
Metalguy you bit off more than you can chew on. There are 3 things about Judas Priest that you dont comment on. I dont care what blog or site you go too. If you to piss Priest fans off
1. Never question If Judas Priest is Heavy Metal or their legacy in it. Before Priest it was just Hard Rock. They gave Metal direction both musically and “the look”
2. Never ever make a comment about Judas Priest’s music unless you understand it. You made a comment about “Breaking the Law.” You must not understand why that song is on the album. Its not for dummies like you. Its a concert song along. (anthem)
3 Judas Priest fans KNEW Rob(Metal God) was gay long time ago. We didnt give fuck back then and dont give a fuck now. Rob is what you call “Untouchable” He and Priest have sold millions of albums and soldout thousands of concerts but still remain humble and down to earth. Just like any band they evolve and change but still stay true to their roots which is Heavy Metal.
I suggest go back to the New Kids on the Block website and comment on their tips on how to apply eye liner. Dont come to a Metal site and bash the METAL GODS
Metalguy, you probably have just heard the shittier radio songs that Priest made. They have some great cuts. Check out the song Hell Patrol. Just stay away from Turbo Lover!
you suck metalguy,,u probably love poison or dokken ..you a dickhead and you suck
Hair Metal?? Oh sure. Songs like Painkiller, Heading Out To The Highway, and Ram It Down sound EXACTLY like Poison, Cinderella, and Def Leppard (One of the worst bands ever). Nice one. They sound a lot a like. Smart.
Breaking the law is by far not their best material, but anyone who compares it to hair metal of all things doesn’t know shit about metal in anyform. What are you 15?
…yeah… sure… right… :-D
SHUT THE FUCK UP,YOU WISH YOU WILL BE AROUND WHEN YOUR 57 YEARS OLD AND ABLE TO SING AND PLAY HEAVY METAL FOR 30 SOME ODD YEARS,WANT TO BE MUTHER FUCKER, THE DEUCE HAS SPOKEN
Metalguy- How many Double, Triple and Quadruple platinum albums do you have? ZERO
Now who’s the gayest? Quit craving attention and publish some songs…then complain. Your obviously not any type of musician or you’d have learned humility a long time ago. Just my opinion tho
Damn, Halford’s voice sucks dick now.
The guy’s 57 years old, cut him some slack. Sure, there’s some old rockers who can still belt it out (Dio comes to mind), but Halford still does a pretty good job considering his age and the notes he can hit. Besides, cock in your throat probably does a bit of damage to the vocal chords.
There’s nobody out there who can sing like Rob at 57…well, except Dio.
I just saw Priest in Toronto. This live album doesn’t give his voice credit! The quality of his voice was close to what I heard on the Screaming For Vengeance Tour!Halford hit the high notes perfectly.
I guess you could listen to your Micheal Jackson albums?
Not bad thats a pretty big exclusive, cant say i like judas priest at all though.
Judas Priest owns. And Bob can still rock you maggots. Go paint your face white and listen to some black metal you hagfish idiots.
Is so good hear someting new…of course every Judas Priest fans knows this songs but with a new touch….I love this new album and i can;t wait to get it…and Rob Halford still Kick ass…..
Judas Priest IS the BEST Metal Band EVER!!!!!!!!!
These Gods show who and what makes them The Metal Gods forever on this new Live Album
Judas Priest sounds Kick ass!!!!!!
Saw them last year and they put on a great fucking show!!!! i WILL BE GETTING THIS ALBUM FIRST DAY IT COMES OUT
long live the true metal gods!!!!! JUDAS PRIEST!!!
WTF it dose not work :( on my putter i only get 3 sec then it skips 2 the next song..And “metalguysays” you need a bulit 2 the head suck some zombi dick paint your face white lol bugga bugga deth metal is evil , no its not you just look like clowns.
Bugga bugga satan is ower master lol
metalguysays isnt my name asshole.
This is to Metalguy…If you don’t know the diffrence between THIS and “Hair Metal”, Then obviously you don’t know a Goddamn thing about METAL!! I suppose that a vocalist needs to be gargleing with razorblades to be concidered NON-Hair Metal to you…Sad! On the subject at hand, I enjoyed the CD. NO, it’s not the best they’ve ever done like back in the day, and Halford sounds like he’s somewhat struggling in parts but overall, it’s still pretty heavy and very Priest-like. I’d buy it.
i seriously didnt mean to respond to every response to my comment, but i meant alot of metalheads who rip on glam(which sucks) like their mainstream stuff which sounds strikengly similar to glam IMO
judas is one of the best metal band of all time lets face it they are the best
Yeah baby!!!! This is the shit. Rob and the boys kicks the shit out all them lame upstarts. End of story
This! Is! The! Painkiller! waaahghggghssssplplplpplplplp*choke*!
boring
Hells YES! Great album! The only track that Halford sounded poor on was Painkiller. A little disappointing, but killer none the less.
anyone else noticed the majority of the tracks are, or at least sounds exactly like those on rising in the east dvd?
Yes you’re right, I noticed that too
Strange isn’t it?
well duh, maybe it is because most of these songs are from the 2005 gigs. those can also be found on dvd (rising in the east). at least the only songs i have recognised to be from 2008 gigs are those from nostradamus-cd. though i’m not sure. anyone know if there are songs from the gig in finland?
Of course they sound like Rising in the East. Some of the tracks may well be from the same show. And for the record, half the tracks are from the 2008 tour, including Between the Hammer and the Anvil, Dissident Aggressor and Eat Me Alive, apart from the Nostradamus tracks.
Metalguy: Listen to some Stained Class, Sin After Sin, and Sad wings Of Destiny. Three great albums by the gods of metal, and some of the most influential
Agreed some of priests lighter stuff is crap, but from sad wings of destiny to defenders of the faith is amazing stuff and has nothing to do with hair metal. This Seems to be a good live album (not as good as unleashed in the east) halford can still seem to hit the notes. everyonr has been influenced by priest either directly or indirectly
I respect Priest and their place in music but the only album that means anything is PAINKILLER.
It ranks up there as one of the most important metal albums of all time.
Painkiller is not as nearly as important as those first couple of albums dissedent aggressor, exciter, sad wings of destiny, the ripper, set the course for metal. painkiller is just a late great album by priest along with angel of retribution
Fine. Metalguy, go ahead and hate Judas Priest. One less asshole to deal with at their badass Summer tour. All you other fans I hope to see you there! ! !
Tell you guys something, Rob sounds fuckng awesome on this album. Listening to disstant aggressor and that is just pure awesome! Such power, got a voice straight from hell. Long live the priest!!!
PRIEST! PRIEST! PRIEST! PRIEST!
How the hell can any metal fan bag on Judas Priest. Just listen to Stained Class (Exciter),Hell Bent,(runnig wild) BritishSteel (rapid fire). They paved the way for thrash metal bands Testament,Megadeth,Metallica,Pantera,Anthrax and those bands set the course for metal today. If anything they are one of most under rated bands ever. Get a grip idiot you probably think papa roach and green day are metal. \m/
Metalguy, you are a moron! Listen to albums like Sad Wings Of Destiny, Stained Class, Defenders Of The faith and you’ll here what REAL metal is!!! Not that crap with cookie monster vocals and so called musicians playing the same chord as fast as they can.
has anyone seen judas priest recently? halford sings to the floor! great band though.
Pretty good. They should’ve put the big hits on there like Heading Out To The Highway, Breaking The Law, Hellbent For Leather, Diamonds and Rust, and stuff like that on there. It’s a little sloppy in a few parts, but all in all, I give it a 6 out of 10. I’d pay around $5 for it.
I’m a bit iffy about buying this album. SIX songs on it are from Rising In The East. Basically it’s like paying for a whole album only to hear 5 new songs. Definitely a good album, but I dunno if I wanna spend $20 just for 5 songs I haven’t heard.
it’s a pretty good album but it would be nice to hear one or two new songs on the album I still like the old stuff don’t get me wrong but it would be nice. I wrote a song dedicated to Judas Priest called Judas Priest on December 14 2008
Point of Entry was my first Priest album and I’ve now gone back to thinking it’s one of their best. One thing that can be said about priest is that whatever direction they take, and their musical direction does move around over time, they are unique.
Priest are the best metal band on this planet and the fact that they are still going after 35 years fo recording is a testament to their ability. this is their 21st album for god’s sake! no one can argue that they are not the metal gods. Rob may not be as good as he is on, say, Unleashed in the East, but he still kicks arse and I’d love to be as talented as him at my age, let alone his! ALL HAIL THE METAL GODS!
I will buy this album, without any doubt. Some of the tracks sounds similar to the ones in Rising in the East, yeah, but it sounds like this have some better sound quality. You can hear it well on for example the drums in Judas Rising, and in general the guitar solos are more clear in the production here, than on Rising in the East. Judas Priest are really an awesome live band! Love those guys!
And, to the discussion about Halford’s voice. Yeah, he have lost some of his extraordinary vocal range, but he still is a fantastic singer! His voice is deeper now, but like on Riding on the Wind, he hit som pretty high notes. Therefore, I think Priest’s idea of playing British Steel in it’s entirety on their North America tour, is great, cause Halford doesn’t need to change octaves so often on the songs from that fantastic album. Btw, the scream on the end of Dissident Aggressor kicks major ass!
I SAW THE PRIEST LAST WEEK IN INDIANAPOLIS,INDIANA .THEY SOUNDED REALLY GOOD AND TALK ABOUT HITTING THE HIGH NOTES,MAN LET ME TELL YA,UNREAL,THEY STILL GOT IT,THANKS ,THE DEUCE
Yeah, agree. I saw them live 7 june 2008 in Trondheim, just a week before they released the Nostradamus-album, and they were totally awesome. It happends to be the best thing I’ve ever experienced. And Rob Halford really hit some high notes there. Painkiller was the only song he maybe struggled a little bit with. Devil’s Child was kick-ass. I’ll be there for sure, next time Judas Priest comes to Norway, if they do..
To all the Priest bashers: If the opening strains of “The Hellion” doesn’t make your fist thrust into the air, then you’re dead.
The best band ever…and their is no other Rob Halford. A first day purchase…and rightfully so!
I consider this live work from Rob to be of a quality that clearly still places him at the forefront of the metal world. I thought the Hellrider performance was stunning and the guitar work is truly brutal. How anyone can interpret the body of work Judas Priest has done as poor is beyond perplexing to me; it is angering. Do yourself a favor and spin Sad Wings of Destiny (Which lays a metal foundation and evolution that centuries will thank this band for creating) From screams to riffs and true arrangements. As for hooks that are catchy and memorable that too is part of Priest. Rob always said Judas Priest is a metal band if you crave deeper fixations then look to his work with Fight and Halford. There are just as many deaf defying heavy spins in Priests rotation as cheesy and it is all intentional and meant to please us fans and to grow the field. From Victim of Changes, to Night Crawler, Meltal Meltdown, Ram it Down Heavy Duty, Bloodstone please PRIEST rules…..
And pleases over and over again. I’ll be buying this.
I agree with every single letter you wrote, and I will like to add; those of you that don’t like Priest, but likes other types of oldschool heavy metal – listen to The Sentinel from Defenders of the Faith. That song just have to be THE metal song, and Defenders of the Faith in general have to be THE metal album. It is truely an outstanding masterpiece.
There is a whole generation of fans (who then passed it on to their kids) who listen to metal BECAUSE of Priest.
Does anyone know where this songs have been recorded? which cities…since that info is not available – Even tough this album sounds pretty good, it`s far from the recording quality of Flight 666, Maiden seems to get bigger after each tour, and their live recordings sound LIVE for real! with no overdubs.. Priest is also trying to attract older fans by playing Brit Steel, doing like Maiden and the histories tours … besides all that, and No matter what , the Priest will always be on my top 5 bands of all times.
ANY ONE KNOW THE SET LIST??????
I’m pleasantly surprised. The sound is really good. A couple of the tracks were previewed on the JP website a while ago and Halford’s voice sounded shot. On the boots of recent tours i’ve got his voice is clearly not what it was and when they toured the UK in Feb the Birmingham show was just ok. I first saw the band in ‘88 and haven’t missed a tour since and I don’t go to see JP expecting an ok show. Having said all that about the brum show I went to Wembley a week later (in a venue I truely dispise!) and they were fantastic. So peeps go buy this, although do yourself a favour and track down a copy of the ‘81 radio broadcast from NYC to really hear a stellar show……..
metalguy is an ass. he says he hates JP, but then says the following—” Painkiller (song) is alright just because the whole song is a showcase of how good talented the band is”.
and, what the fuck does “good talented” mean?
i guess it means that metalguy didnt get past third grade.
Metal Goof, you sound like another punk ass fairy bitch, Jp does the job and does it like no one else,if you do not like the sound, fuck off then, hide behind the screen, talk shit, your an idiot
J’y étais ! Il sont fantastique . I love them. Rob is the best metal sond . He is Metal God forever. Up the hell riders. Merci Metalsucks. Amicalement !!
Can’t wait to get my hands on this new LIVE Priest release! We saw Priest twice last year (KC and Phoenix) and again last week near St. Louis- WOW!!! I’ve been ROCKIN’ to Priest since 1977, and have seen them live since the early 80’s, what a LIVE show they put on! If you’ve never seen Priest show, DIVE IN while you still can…
D of KC
this cd is a long time coming & damn well worth the wait!!! JUDAS PRIEST forever!!! halford fans unite!!!
Priest always amaze me, this Live CD sounds pretty good here, can’t wait to have it on a true stereo system, I bet its clear as it can be. (Thank you Tom Alom). Priest always prove they are the ONE and only Metal Gods! \m/
I wish they’d just release 2 full live albums from those two shows
Hey devilball….I have a copy of that radio broadcast!
It has excellent sound, only took FULL songs from Rising in the east where the public response is minimal, have taken the DVD versions of the Angel of Retribution where the public response is total, od any country in South America. It is a pity that.
Great: Prophecy, between the hammer, death, Dissident Agressor and eat me alive.
Genial Prophecy, between the hammer, death, dissident agressor y eat me alive.
Pretty much that ‘metalguy’ isn’t metal at all. By saying you hate Priest…denies you all rights of being ‘metal’. JP FOR LIFE!!
Priest Owns!
Will be picking this up when it hits the stores, kick ass stuff!
Justin
Priest is, and always will be the best ALL around Metal band. If you listen to Unleashed in the East, you will realize why they were so influential to the whole genre. Exciter alone kicks Holy Ass on so much recorded by so many of the later bands(SlipNOT,Disturbed, etc). If you don’t know Steeler,Rapid Fire, Exciter or Tyrant, you probably should not even comment on Judas Priest.
from rocka rolla to nostradamus..no band..in the history of music weather its metal, rock, pop..or any other from of music out there..done what the priest has done..35 years and they have put together a library of music differant with each new album….it what makes them truely unique in the world of music..why they have been overlooked year after year from the rock and roll hall of fame..baffles me..though priest is not for all..they deserve the respect in the world of music..
Can you show me any other metal band through the ages that has influenced so many other metal bands and sub genres? No, of course you cant. That is because Judas Priest used their genius to evolve the sound of heavy bands in the early 70s, creating new techniques to develop most of the metal we hear now. The twin lead attack of Tipton and Downing was far superior through the 70s than any other band, meaning they could experiment with harmonies and structures that had never been tried. Then of course theres Rob, the finest metal vocalist of all time, during the 70s and 80s noone could touch him and he could literally sing anything. Is the falsetto wail that is used in many power metal bands now coincidence? Of course not, its Halfords influence, and yes i know Ian Gillan did it first but that wasnt metal, and certainly not used in the same way, think deceiver, exciter, victim of changes etc. No other metal band will ever be able to hold a torch to the metal gods, and no other metal band will ever be able to say they invented this and that, and influenced all these bands like the mighty JUDAS FUCKIN PRIEST!!
Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson were a better 70’s lead guitar duo than Glenn Tipton and KK Downing
Are you really comparing Judas Priest to fuckin thin lizzy? please!!!
Oh I forgot to add. . . . metalguy, you’re a cunt!!
JP is such an amazing band…. sad wings is amazing.. dreamer/deciever…. need i say more?Dissident agrssor is so heavy… and desert plains and devils child is so old school.. balls out rockin.. u are the greatest cause u guys do everything… not only sing bout history.. or bout the devil… U are the most varied and diverse.. We love you from INDIA.. please tour here.. we deserve it!!! Priest… i also love as i lay dying.. lol.. u guys tour here also.. open for priest;-)
Metalguy? Alloy?
im not a priest fan,but this album rocks.
Went to the show in Cleveland last night. For those of you that say Halford can’t sing anymore or can’t hit those high notes you are DEAD WRONG!!!!! What an amazing performance. It was cool to hear some of the songs you don’t normally hear at a show, and that is why doing the album in it’s entirety is a great idea. Metalguy you really do need to get passed the more pop type hits they play on the radio, Priest is so much more than those 3 or 4 songs. Of course the band has been around so long they have gone through so many different eras of metal and have always been a guiding light to those who want to know what real metal is. Not the cookie monster or as I like to call them the grunt and poop 3 bar chord screamers that claim because it’s loud and fast it’s metal, not true. there needs to be talent as well and Judas Priest has that and then some!!!
Hell-o everybody i’ve seen JUDAS PRIEST like 5 times already and i gonna see’em again this aug when they come to Albuquerque,NM.and let me tell you guys JUDAS PRIEST ARE “THE METAL GODS” and i don’t give a shit what idiots that don’t even know what HEAVY METAL it’s about, and of course there;re going to be a JUDAS PRIEST heaters. But you know what “FUCK’EM ALL”
And KEEP ON ROCKING.
LONG LIVE TO “JUDAS FUCKING PRIEST”
OUT.
Judas Priest are the true “Metal Gods” Anybody who has anything negative to say is to young to understand Priest. You had to be in the late 70’s and 80’s to understand how Priest to the lead in leading Heavy Metal to the forefront. Who was doing dual lead guitars or where leather back then. Listen to British Steel and find any album during that time and tell me if it doesnt stand up. I’m not going to even mention Screaming or Defenders. Preist always has a song or two on their albums for the “Lite” Metal listeners to digest. If you really want Priest its on the song they dont play on the radio. I suggest Bloodstone, Savage, Sinner, Ram It Down, and All Guns Blazing. You just might catch a clue. They can go from arena rock to speed metal in the blink of a strobe light. LONG LIVE THE METAL GODS
