ONE GOOD MAN-CHILD DESERVES ANOTHER

First of all, please allow me to begin by saying that I AM SO FUCKING SICK OF HEARING ABOUT MICHAEL JACKSON. Yes, I know I wrote about him too, but that was the day after he moonwalked the bucket – it’s been ENOUGH ALREADY. He died. He was talented, and he was crazy. It’s a little sad, but for for Christ’s sake, let’s keep some perspective here. There are much, much more important things going on in the world right now than the passing of the King of Pop. And besides, if I hear fucking “Billie Jean” one time, I’m going to slaughter every living soul in sight.

That being said… I had to post this. Yes, Buckethead is a weird, weird dude, and his obsessions with both Jackson and Disneyland are borderline-creepy. But he’s also a genius, and his tribute to Jackson, “The Homing Beacon,” is a beautiful piece of music. So just try to ignore that it’s one -gazillionth unnecessary tribute to MJ and just enjoy it as a wonderful bit of guitar playing.

You can stream “The Homing Beacon” here.

think of it this way, axl. if a member of slayer or Ozzy O. died or some shit, the metal world wouldnt shut up about it for months and months. And I bet metalsucks would post 20 plus blogs about it..sooooo…..

    • bearbomb says:

Or a member of Chimaira or IWABO.

      • Depends…did this member of slayer or Ozzy become a complete freak and start molesting little kids before he died? The Michael Jackson that everyone says they love died a long fucking time ago.
And can someone tell me why black people even care that he died? Isn’t it kind of a slap in the face to your own race if you change your skin color to white? and don’t give me this pigment disease bullshit.

        That song is great btw

    • Strep Townsend says:

I wouldn’t give two shits if any of them die, when you’re dead, you’re dead…move on already, I think it’s funny how no one gave a shit about Jackson until he died, now suddenly once again he is the “king of pop”. What’s even more moronic is the number of people that will call out sick from work to observe his funeral.

    RIP DIME

  3. sYgnal says:

I always thought this guy was talented though I could never get into any of his albums. BUT, imho, this is the best stuff from him that I have ever heard… It has a Windham Hill feeling…very Michael Hedges like.

  4. CarlosRamirez says:

Dimebag died years ago and we still hear about it. Let the guy rest in peace.

  5. groverXIII says:

I love me some Buckethead… he’s definitely a grade-A weirdo, but he’s ridiculously talented, and I think if he weren’t a weirdo his stuff wouldn’t be as interesting. As for the song, it’s haunting… well-written, and well-played.

  6. TimeWarp says:

This song is very somber compared to some of his other work like Jordan. The song is hauntingly beautiful.

  7. Lord Bling says:

What’s the difference between Neil Armstrong and Michael Jackson?

Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, and Michael Jackson fucked little boys.

  8. Johnny says:

this is a very beautiful piece of music, thanks for posting it Axl

  9. Metal Fuckin' Dave says:

I think my biggest beef with this whole “passing of Micheal Jackson fiasco” is that when he died, my father was lying in pain during his final hours of life. My father who I was very close to and meant a great deal to me was fading right in front of me. I sat next to him in the hospital and watched the news footage of people who had never met Micheal Jackson sobbing uncontrollably. Yet, there I sat with my father, not daring to let the tears come as I didn’t want him to be even more afraid to die. And still I sit, my father now gone, watching the continuing news footage of people freaking out over the death of this “great man” when the man I knew and can personally verify was a very great man never had such an impact. Someone who worked hard to provide for a family right up until two months before his passing….and this public figure who only months ago was deemed by most of society as a child molester and all around weirdo…it is pretty hard to compare the two. Granted, my dad didn’t churn out platinum records in his life. But he was a bottomless well of inspiration to me. Real inspiration…things to get me through my life. Micheal Jackson was anything but. And I’m sure a lot these people who are “mourning” his death have real inspirational people in their lives who, when they pass, are going to have a far greater impact in the long run. I know the timing of Jackson’s death in relation to my fathers is something that could not be controlled. I just think people need to start seeing things in a greater light, which is infinitely more on a personal stage than a global one, albeit one with great pyrotechnics and excessive moonwalking. Yeah…I guess I’m bitter.

    • Lord Bling says:

If I had an experience like yours, I’d be bitter too. Real fuckin’ bitter. At least you can recognize why.

      Sorry to hear it.

    • Johnny says:

Very sorry to hear about your loss man

    • Noel says:

then , you of all people should know its painful to lose someone you cared about. Is it so hard to imagine people feeling connected to an artist because they grew up with their music? If one of my favorite musicians from my favorite band died, id be sad too, even if I never met them. I am sorry for your loss, but please realize Micheal also had a family and kids. So, why dont you think about that for a moment. Im sure his mother and siblings and children arent mourning him because he was good at moonwalking, but because of the same reasons you mourn your father.

      • I would be offended if anyone even remotely compared the mourning over someone I loved to mourning for Michael Jackson. I am sorry for your loss Metal-fucking-dave.

The way people are acting about this you would think the pope just died. He was a recluse the last decade of his life, was a freak, blah blah you all know the story. Ok sure, feel bad for his family. Is that what the million fucking people at his funeral today are doing? umm doubt it.

Poor blanket…poor poor blanket. Maybe now the kid can change his name legally.

  10. johnnywhoopass says:

Its funny how everyone called mj a freaking freak and a pedophile like every freaking day, and yet he dies and all you hear is oh hes such an icon and bla bla fuck that man the only people who should be morning his death is his family the media needs to go fuck its hat on this one, fuckin pathetic bunch of hypocrites

and besides who goes on this site and can say they actually own a one of his ass worthy records?

    • Johnny says:

The guy may have been fucked up beyond all ends, but he was a very talented musician and a very talented performer. It is wrong to try to take that away from the man, as fucked up as he was. Give the guy the credit he is due, he was the biggest star since Elvis and without his influence on music nothing would have been the way it is now.

I’m not saying anything about who he was as a person, he was a weirdo and a freak. But don’t knock his music and how much of an influencial figure he is on music as we know it.

That being said, I also disagree with people sitting there crying over him who didn’t actually personally know him, I find that pathetic and stupid, but to each his own. The media is hypocritical, if you are just learning that now then I pity you.

I’m sure a lot of people on this site have at least a few of his songs, and if they deny that and the fact that he was an amazing musician then you are full of shit.

I will remember the music, not the man.

      • Granted, music might be different that it is now, but so might the little kids he molested.

        • Johnny says:

Thank you for your intelligent response to my comment. =P

          • Haha sorry, didnt have time to type something out at the moment. Michael Jackson had some great songs, no doubt about it. He helped influence a generation of musicians. THAT MJ died a long time ago. I agree with you about the media, just turned on the TV and basically every channel is playing his damn funeral, people sobbing everywhere. It’s ridiculous. I respect what he did for music, but I refuse to sit here and give him much more acclaim than that after he is dead because of how he was for a person. OJ Simpson, great athlete, never thought of the same after.

    • Noel says:

you know, when dimebag died, critics said thing like “who cares about some loser weed smokin rock guitarist?” infact, one artical titled “Aesthetics of Hate” went on to say we shouldnt care [we, being the non metal world] because metal music is for inbred neanderthals. Machine head took the articles name and made a song about it that talked about how a death of person should not be judged apon whether you approved or disapproved of their music. Just cuz you dont like his music doesnt mean he didnt influence many people. …shit man, you sound just like the right wing christian who wrote that antimetal article.
“besides who goes on this site and can say they actually own a one of his ass worthy records?” One in the same, you slug.

    Side Note:

If you download the .mp3, It is called the Landing Beacon. Breif check says it is the same song…

  12. vmanv says:

MJ was a punchline to everyone’s jokes for the last 15 years. Based on the reactions of the retards on tv, I think it speaks volumes how fucking weird humans are.

    Buckethead is cool though.

  13. Cyclic says:

    that song is awesome period

  14. Andres says:

I have to say, this song was damn beautiful.

    Great job he did.

  15. i think says:

what are the best buckethead albums?
ive known hes existed for years but when you see his collection of 20ish albums hes done its confuses me, any recomendations?????????

i prefer the fall asleep songs rather than stuff like jordan… soothsayer is standable

    • Aya says:

Try “A Real Diamond in the Rough”, the recent album, kinda similiar to the stuff AR posted…some beautiful atmospheric rock out there…

Only heard 3 albums, not sure what’s the best coz each is in a different style.lol

  16. Randy... I AM the liquor says:

I haven’t heard every one of his albums, but I do play the shit out of:
Jonas Hellborg, Buckethead and Micheal Shrieve/ Octave Of The Holy Innocents

Very highly recommended! Jonas Hellborg is a scarily talented Dude on 8-string acoustic bass.
Fanfuckentastic recording. This is a CD you would take with you to a stereo shop while shopping for gear.

The album (plus links for lots of his other albums):

    Also;
    You should seek-out the DVD:
    Buckethead/ Secret Recipe
By total fluke it was only $12CAN? (not a big seller, they were happy to be rid of it)
This DVD has the most amount of hidden ‘easter eggs’ I’ve ever seen, and is by far the weirdest fucked-up shit ever…
