3 INCHES OF BLOOD WANNA BUILD SOME SHIT

Even without Jamie Hooper (who, I can assure you, is not returning to 3IOB anytime soon, if ever), 3 Inches of Blood has made another killer album with Here Waits Thy Doom. I mean, it’s just all the metal-as-fuck shit you’ve come to expect from 3IOB. It makes me wanna give a high-pitched scream just typing about it.
The album won’t drop ’til September 8 (one week earlier in Europe), but the band is streaming a new track, “Call of the Hammer,” here. In the words of some tool I used to know, check that shit out, yo. Then come back here and let us know whatcha think.

I haven’t heard anything about Hooper one way or the other. How are you so sure he’s not returning? Just curious, I’m sure you’ve got some inside details that we’re all unaware of, or I’ve been living under a rock. Hey, whatever.
Yeah they really never announced his departure. The only thing mentioned was him having to sit out ozzfest because his throat could be permanently damaged and that the guitarist would take over his duties for the time being. Now it looks like he isnt on the new album and the new song definitely lacks the dynamic he had with Cam. The song was decent but the riff was very repetitive and without the two vocalists playing off one another the song lacked dynamics.
yeah im looking forward to the new album, i like the new track, great to hear a 3iob song with no core vocals in it just good ol’ cam pipes
Heard it last week via the Goatriders Horde website. Jamie ain’t coming back. Nick ain’t coming back. 3IOB still kick major ass despite them not being involved with the record. Looking forward to the new album.
I sure fucking hope this is a preproduction track, because IMO the quality is horrible.
Agreed. Awful production.
Its just because myspace makes it sound like shit
As I just said, genuinely awful production, and even without that, the track sounds boring. Just like everything else 3IOB has done. It’s a shame, since Cam Pipes actually seems like a talented vocalist. What a waste…
the production quality leaves a lot to be desired.
the music isn’t bad.
but no where near as good as fire up the blades.
jamie hooper provided a little more flavor to the dynamics.
i think it’s good…but not the 3IOB i’ve grown to love.
It’s a decent track and I like the harsh backing vocals more than I liked their actual harsh vocalist, but it’s nothing special, which sucks cause I really want to like it more than I do. I’ve never been a huge 3 Inches of Blood fan, but I like some of their stuff and I think the members are all talented enough, they just never seem to do anything that blows me away.
I really hope this is unmastered.
The track is very boring. Leaves alot to be desired.
I can see how this may be unmastered. The only word I can think of is to say it sounds empty compared to the rest of there songs. But it stills sounds great. I can also hear more of a thrash influence creeping in, and I wonder if it’s a concious decision to add that element, or if it’s simply a natural byproduct of not having Jamie or Nick in the fold. One way or another, it’s 3IOfuckingB, it’s unabashed fucking metal, and when it comes out, I’m gonna give it a real fucking chance. Really fucking excited. Really.
I like them better with just Cam. The other guy stepped all over everyones dick! He didn’t know when to shut up. I’m looking forward to the new one. The new track lacked some of the bitching guitar melodies the others had but I’ll buy just for Cam’s kicking vocals.
Well, I like it…but not as much as anything off of the last two albums. Hopefully it will be the worst track of the bunch and the album will just kick ass. I also noticed the shitty production, though, and that bothers me. Solo ripped. Jamie is not missed. Never really cared for his vocals paired with Cam though it did have an original element to it. That element has since been done to death.
Sorry. Album is not that good. Jamie is missed a lot. There is no heaviness to the album, with only Cam it sounds like a bad copy of Accept. Also, the drumming is not the same, it does not kick me where it should.
Pretty sad. Without Jamie, the last original member, the band seems to be loosing its way and direction. Cam’s lyrics were worse as ever. I mean, really child like lyrics. At least they should have allowed Jamie to help in the production and writing process.
I agree, this just seems like a bad metal album now, not anything close to the old 3iob that i loved, not only am i left wanting more dynamic vocally but what is there for “Heavy” vocals are terrible, i mean the vocals sound more suiting to Dimmu then 3iob. All and all i miss the old band and line up. Save your money, wish i did.
