Stands Tensions in my opinion is definitely on the top 5 list of the greatest albums of 2009. Absolutely captivating and dazzling!
Never saw them yet, but did an interview with Laura this year and they seem to be really down-to-earth and friendly people.

I had never heard of them and saw them open for Mastodon earlier in summer. They sounded great live. I picked up their album with the T-shirt deal somebody mentioned earlier. If you like any of the bands they mentioned as influences they are definitely worth checking out.

Absolutely, Keegan. I think that was my biggest surprise about seeing Kylesa. In a sort of sexist assumption, I thought Philip played leads and she played a solid rhythm, but, of course, it’s the opposite. Like you said, it’s not like she’s playing mind-blowingly distinctive stuff, but all those cool little spidery leads on Kylesa records are her. And she rocks the fuck out, too. I highly recommend seeing them live to anyone who hasn’t yet. For me, that’s what put them over the top from being a band I dug to a band I love.

It’s sorta hard to equal Mastodon when they’ve got a huge ass video screen behind them. But when I saw these guys play I was blown away…now to get them into my rotation more often.

Saw Kylesa with Mastodon this year. Kylesa is pretty damn interesting, 2 drummers on the latest record and same 2 drummers live, they are interesting and the rhythm is pretty damn tight for having 2 drummers with as much push and pull type feel they have in the songs they play.

And just to let everybody know, that chick is a pretty damn good guitar player. I mean, it’s not like she had this out of this world style or technique but it was cool to see she wasn’t just another chick tossed in a rock band that doesn’t know how to play guitar at all. She has a solid rhythm hand for sure. From when they played live though, the 2 guitar players sort of share singing duties, it’s about half and half through the set they played.

And they we’re giving there latest full length away for free with a 15 dollar T-shirt, which was way better than Mastodon’s OVER PRICED 25 dollar shirts.

And most of Kylesas artwork is done by pushead, so it’s badass.

Yeah, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them kick it live in my hometown in germany on monday and despite being pretty fucked up because of coming home from a festival that very day I was completely blown away by their performance!
Being a drummer myself those two guys tore me to shreds with their fantastic playing, nothing of progressive wankery, just friggin awesome drum-duelists performing in unison! And all that after coming to the show 3 hours late after being stuck in traffic jam or whatever on their way from France! One of the most intruiging performances I’ve ever seen…

I knew of Kylesa before but had never set down to listen to them before Scion Rockfest and they came out and just blew me away. I quickly got my hands on all of their records and everything is killer and Static Tensions is definitely something everyone should give a listen to. Something is in the water in Georgia. They have Mastodon,Kylesa,Torche and Baroness and others as well. Pretty good stuff being put out of that state.

Lucky enough to be on speaking terms with the guys in Kylesa, I’ve had them stay at my house a couple of times when they’re in the UK and its gotta be said that Laura and Eric are just awesome nice people. In fact they are all. I’ve been a big fan of them for a few years now and they just keep getting better and better.

They played Burnout on the Xbox360 and watched Family Guy DVDs the first time they stayed… all good. ;-)

A friend recommended this album to me 2 weeks ago, thinking that I might dig the 2 drummer thing. I’ve been pumping the shit out of it since. It Really Kicks Ass.
I had no idea that the singer is a chick? WTF!

Highly recommended to anybody who loves (the) Melvins or Mastodon.
If so; you NEED this album.
