SIX FEET UNDER WORKING ON SEQUEL NO ONE ASKED FOR

Monday, July 20th, 2009 at 12:00pm by Axl Rosenberg

I don’t actually know anything about Six Feet Under’s record sales. For all I know, the actual economics render everything I’m about to type moot.

But to me, Six Feet Under recording another one of their Graveyard Classics albums – e.g., covers of non-metal songs that were fine the way they were turned into death metal songs that no one I know will ever actually listen to – seems like Eddie Murphy announcing Pluto Nash 2 or Van Halen announcing a new album with Gary Cherone. What a waste of time, energy, and money.

Also, by all appearances Six Feet Under songs aren’t all that hard to write, so you wonder why the band doesn’t just make a new album instead. At least then they wouldn’t be butchering anyone’s music but their own.

In case you’ve never had the pleasure of hearing a SFU Graveyard Classics album, here’s the band doing AC/DC’s “TNT” for a shitload of people who are apparently way more into it than I am.

Hard to pay attention to the music in that, the nasty ears were too distracting. However, it did just sound like TNT with shittier vocals

  2. In other news, Cannibal Corpse still kicks ass just as much without Barnes

  3. Their cover of Back In Black was the most unintentionally funny album ever made

i actually like barnes but this is truly stupid. there is no need for me to hear stupid versions of great songs. i like six feet under but this is just a waste of time.

  5. I’ll try to remember this when I’m moshing my balls off to Cannibal Corpse at Mayhem Fest on Friday…but I prolly won’t

  6. \nn/ says:

    OMFG Bon, please forgive them

  7. Slaughterhouse says:

I have never liked 6feet under…It just doesn’t compare to Cannibal…Corpsegrinder tears Barnes up!!!!!!

  8. Patton says:

    What a shit cover.

  9. Ziltoid says:

I think SFU might just be objectively the worst band in existence. At least there’s some comedic value from listening to Attack Attack!. This is just awful in every meaning of the word, and it’s not even funny. Just sad…

  10. Am I the only one who gets a sick sense of pleasure from watching Barnes and company humiliate themselves? The SFU cover of Purple Haze had me laughing uncontrollably when I first heard it and the best part is that interviews suggest that the band isn’t being ironic at all when they cover songs.

i would rather listen to Celine Dyons cover of You Shook Me All Night Long than listen to that shit again ….im serious these guys are horrible

Is this how SFU does covers? An almost exact recreation of the music, except without the power and, for lack of a better term, pure balls, and just growling the lyrics? Whats the point? Doesn’t seem too creative to me. In fact, I dare say it kinda sucks. I like hearing a good cover, if the band doing the cover changes it up enough to make it there own. Things like this are just the results of laziness and/or the desire to cash in on something that’s a proven seller.

Cannibal Corpse is the best selling Death Metal act and 6FU comes fourth.
Moreover, CC album sales went up since Fisher came.
