I just saw Karen O for the first time now. I don’t read Spin and I think gay guys must be the target audience b/c her wiki page says she “won” the Sex Goddess Award in 2004-05.

Doris Yeh is totally average for an Asian (boob job included) but Karen O is very subpar.

Btw, I saw a poster for Tibet on the subway in Taipei last month…Chthonic was given space in the ad. They were in full makeup and everything (standard press photo). This was very surprising considering about a dozen kids in Taiwan listen to anything remotely close to metal. This raises a lot of interesting cultural questions (ie. what kind of reaction would Chthonic get if they started in Europe or NA, how is it possible they have absolutely no following in their home country (i think they play in basements…never heard of any metal clubs in Taipei–just rock…Linkin Park is the most “extreme” they get)). Are they an Asian extreme metal band or an extreme metal band? Do you really judge them by the same standard as EU/NA bands or do they get a pass?

Luckily I’m American so I have been vaccinated against excessive use of keyboards in heavy metal music (I really don’t give two shits about Chthonic–there is zero chance they will have any influence on the music I love).
