HOLY SHIT: JOHN BUSH IS BACK IN ANTHRAX… SORT OF

“As announced last week, thrash legends ANTHRAX regretfully cancelled the first three dates on the second leg of their European tour due to new vocalist Dan Nelson’s unexpected illness. An additional seven European dates are also cancelled, those scheduled from July 22 to July 30.
“ANTHRAX is thrilled to announce that they will play the August 1 Sonisphere festival in Knebworth, England, with their good friend John Bush [ANTHRAX's singer from 1992 to 2005] joining them for a very special one-off performance.
“The members of ANTHRAX have confirmed the departure of vocalist Dan Nelson. In light of this development, ANTHRAX’s slot on the U.S. SLIPKNOT dates set for August and September, has also been cancelled. ANTHRAX is already actively considering lead singer candidates, and looks forward to hitting the road before the end of the year.”
On behalf of Vince and all the other Bushtrax fans out there who never wanted John out of the band in the first place, I would just like to say:

I say Bush shouldn’t go back to the band. I love Bush’s work with Anthrax, but after what they did to him? They don’t deserve his talents.
It’s an one-off performance. Bush is not coming back. It’s hardly possible he will leave his friends in Armored Saint for the guys who booted him for Belladonna. But it does show what a class-act he is.
i bet they somehow will come up with the big $$ payoff to get him back full time…
Wow, talk about a band imploding at the wrong time. There new album is about to come out with a singer that won’t ever sing with them again live and John Bush is only coming back for a one-off? I think Anthrax probably won’t recover from this. They have been falling more and more out of the limelight and this album/new singer was a way they could have reinvigorated interest in the band.
They should become an instrumental Anthrax covers band. Or replace the whole band with apocalyptic!a – Moshalyptica
Good news is, Gojira has time off before they support Metallica, so they’d be available to fill in for Anthrax on the Slipknot dates. SOMEONE, I DON’T CARE WHO, MAKE THIS HAPPEN — and while you’re at it, get rid of Black Dahlia Murder.

as opposed to what, an expected illness? I smell bullshit.
To play devil’s advocate here: It’s possible that it’s an extremely severe illness, like maybe a disease, that needs immediate treatment. Shit, the guy could have cancer for all we know. Or maybe he has a problem with some part of his body he needs to sing (throat, vocal chords, lungs, etc.). With that aside, you’re probably right, this thing stinks to high heaven.
There’s no illness at all. Nelson wasn’t sick or ill at all. He was kicked out of the band. It’s all on blabbermouth.
Fuck him, Anthrax will suck anyway. The only way I could be exited besides having Bellandona or Turbin back, is that they would have a new vocalist who would fit, no Anselmo clone, and no core vocals or anything that doesn’t sound thrash, heavy or power.
Safe home sucks. It is some strange post-thrash hard rock song. Hardly even metal. See Anthrax, this is why you don’t have any fans left. Not because Joey Belladonna didn’t fit your band and was more of a Journey type singer. Not because Jon Bush didn’t have hair. No, it is because you couldn’t write good metal songs anymore. Scott Ian, if you are reading this: give it up. Retire to VH1 and make funny faces on Best Week Ever or whatever stupid soundbyte show they have on now.

You hit it right on the head, my friend. I hate to say this because I grew up on Anthrax but, you’re right, these cats just don’t write good shit anymore. The lyrics on We’ve Come For You All were downright laughable. They had that Dave Mustaine these-lyrics-are-cheesy-but-i-don’t-know-it-and-i-am-so-far-up-my-own-ass-that-i-actually-think-i-sound-badass type feel to them.
Belladonna will always be Anthrax to me. I’m old.

Bell-a-fucking-donna. I don’t know why you guys all have hard ons for Bush; they had two good albums with him. With Belladonna, they had 3 great albums, including all of their classic stuff. What would classic Anthrax be with Bush. Only?
I asked him personally and he says none of the rumors are true. Case closed!
Part of me wants to know what Nelson did that was so bad they couldn’t carry on with him.
Part me of me just thinks Anthrax have become a sad farce and just doesn’t want to know.
And another part of me wants a milkshake.
At this point I kind of just wish Anthrax would just break up. People are pretty divided over who has been the best front man for them, and have also been somewhat blinded by the quality of their music since…lets say Sound of White Noise. Just can’t listen to their shit anymore.
Bush should just stick to Armored Saint. I’m old school, I dig Belladonna in Anthrax.
I like Belladonna with Anthrax but John Bush era is my all-time favorite Anthrax. It’d be awesome to see him with them again… Maybe they can at least get a John Bush sound-alike.. haha..
