DIDJA HEAR THAT GOJIRA SCHEDULED HEADLINE DATES BETWEEN METALLICA SHOWS? DIDJA?? DIDJA?!

gojira new yorkA couple of weeks ago about 10,675 of you emailed us about the kinda-cool-but-not-really-all-that-exciting news that LoG and Gojira will be opening for Metallica on their fall U.S. tour; good for them and all, but tickets will cost a fortune and we’d much rather see each band in a smaller, more intimate setting. So of course now that there’s actually some legit, super-exciting news — that Gojira have scheduled a series of one-off headline gigs in between their shows with Metallica — the grand total of readers who have emailed us so far is…. zero. Seriously, fuck all of you. (update: ONE. Thank you once again to MetalSucks Maniac / our favorite metal Hasid, Josh Kidd!). Kids, Gojira’s NYC headline show earlier this year was easily the best show we’ve seen all year. Easily. “Holy” and “shit” don’t even begin to describe how we felt about the show.

Support on these dates, which start September 21st in Brooklyn, will come from Zoroaster (who are headlining the MetalSucks-sponsored North America is Doomed Tour this Summer) and motherfucking BURST! That’s right, motherfucking Burst, whom I’ve been imploring you all to check out for at least two years. All at the same tiny venue in Williamsburg where we saw Mastodon play Crack the Skye in its entirety; the place holds 300 people, 400 max.

Check out the full list of Gojira headline dates after the jump. If your city isn’t included, fret not — the press release we received says “more dates TBA.”

  • Shinaain

I needed some good news to wake up to. Josh, you’re my hero. Seriously, brother, respect.

If I have to travel to see this band, I will. More dates!!!

    • Shinaain

You know, comparing their headlining schedule with their schedule playing with Metallica, it’s plain that these guys aren’t cutting themselves any slack. Looks pretty brutal. Joe said in an interview during the Hellfest press junket that they plan to tour through the end of the year, and then hit the studio to work on the next record after the first of the year. This is probably their last push to put TWoAF to bed and plainly they’re all business. It’s expensive as Hell for them to come over from France to tour, so I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same if I were they.

    • joshkid

Thanks alot Shinaain! I hope the rest of your day will be as great as your morning was!!!
      Peace & Rock On!!!

  • ZapBranigan

Holy shit Burst & Gojira!!! Man they need to play somewhere close to me. Baltimore is 5 1/2 hours from me, but I am seriously considering it.

  • ZapBranigan

Please post any and all updates you receive about this.

  • Toxteth O’Grady

    Tickets to be purchased Friday.

  • Permafrost

I did hear that a Vancouver date was possible, which would be awesome since they were here not long ago… and thinking about it now, they were here in November with In Flames and damn near destroyed them AND All That Remains.

    Gojira = amazing.

  • yanky

    • Shinaain

  • SonOF

Gojira and Burst in Brooklyn sounds mighty fine. I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing Burst.

  • http://ultimateposerblog.blogspot.com Ultimate Poser Blog

I’m totally interested in seeing Gojira in Mokena. My problem is that I also wanted to see some God Dethroned at The Rave two days later. Decisions, decisions….

    • Shinaain

For my money, GOJIRA. End of story. But you have your own life to live….

  • uLy

Going to the olrando show for sure!!! this is going to be my favorite show of the year by far, and i’m even going to see NIN in NY for their tiny show at Webster Hall.

Gojira is THE show I’ve been wanting to see for years now.

  • villanj1

Where the fuck are the Volbeat one-offs?!

  • Sandy n Papo

    not Bogota? :+{

  • israelizach

    Not Israel? :(

  • Walker

So with Lamb of God not too far away something tells me at a few shows Randy should come out for his cameo. Got my tickets for Brooklyn, so pumped, listening to From Mars to Sirius now.

    • Shinaain

That would be pretty cool. Since I’m not going to any of the Metallica shows, I won’t get to see LoG but seeing Randy–if only for one song at a Gojira show–might placate me. We’ll see.

  • aniie
