AND I THOUGHT I WAS A DORK

Thanks to Ms Maniac Amanda Dobbs for me sending me a link to The Metal Shakespeare Company, a band that – you guessed it – uses Shakespeare text as the lyrics to their metal songs. They also dress like they’re going to a Renaissance fair.

Anyways, there is something kinda funny about this… but not the way I think the band probably hoped for.

Do they take themselves seriously? I honestly can’t tell….

  • noname

this is so clearly a parody or a comedy band

  • DanyLektro

I don’t know, personally I think Shakespeare was pretty metal, at least during his depressing years, this seems like two things that should go together quite nicely XD

  • Shinaain

It’s like I told Axl, they’re coming my town in about a week or so and I plan to check it out. Clearly, this will go one of two ways: It will be either well and truly righteous, or heinous fuckery most foul.

    • http://no AR = DORK

Make no mistake Axl. You ARE a dork… only without any talent. Never read a single thing here that was remotely creative, or even good… sometime funny, but even a new born pig can be funny. Hmm.. if I think about it BABE the little pig was pretty funny, but then again it was written by WRITERS. Real writers who can actually write.

gee, that intro kinda sounds like every black sabbath song ever……

  • moose_knuckle

Damm…..you think its gonna be funny but its just cringe inducing.

  • herojoe

    That was fucking hilarious!!!

I actually find that really, fucking awesome. I don’t really find it funny, but I dig Shakespeare, so the idea of a metal band using his works as the basis for their lyrics gets my seal of approval. The video is a bit over-the-top, though.

Did you ever hear “Thane to the Throne” by Jag Panzer? That was a great album that told the story of MacBeth. They did Shakespeare-metal right.

I was never too big on Jag Panzer, but I just checked out some samples on Itunes, it’s definitely good stuff. Thanks for the tip.

these guys used to be called Dagger of the Mind (a way better name) but their album is as disappointing as you would expect. on the other hand, their song Dagger of the Mind, totally rules. these guys were funny two years ago, where were you metalsucks?

  • bearwizard

this was way better than i thought it be

Come on… of course is a joke !!!

  • Johnny

what a cop out (the guitar solo)

  • Tommy Lindbergsen

heh…cheesy…Reminds me of some of the reasons I got into metal in the first place.

  • Harry

This would be a lot better if the singer would hit a note on pitch.

  • Yorick

It was bad, but I liked it.

    bardcore

    • Shinaain

      Win.

Say what you want about cheese factor, TMSC puts on a great show. I definitely agree Dagger of The Mind was a better band name, but too many people did not get the reference (at all). Too many people get way too seriouspants about metal, and life in general!
