A friend sent us the below clip of Demi Lovato talking about her appreciation of Job for a Cowboy, Abigail Williams and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster (go to 3:16 in the clip). Of course, I had to use Wikipedia to figure out who the fuck Demi Lovato is, and turns out she has exactly the kind of career you’d expect her to based on her appearance. Still, I guess if she can get some twelve year old girls into JFAC, it’s all good… right?

In other news, good to see that Jimmy Fallon is still a massive tool.

    You know… I had this on last night and was tuning it out until my wife told me what she’d said. My wife has heard me playing Abigail Williams, so she knew what Demi was talking about.

    I say that’s pretty cool, considering she could’ve mentioned bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Attack Attack, or even Korn, and refered to those groups as “heavy”. Good on her for having some taste.

Yes I know it’s not necessarily the MOST likely to happen, but it’s better then Demi saying “tee hee, I love Britney Spears, she’s my idol” or something.

        Are you fucking kidding me? Why is it that so many people hate bands like the faceless just because they got popular through “the scene”? Their stuff is much more technically demanding than a lot of the bands praised on this forum. Don’t just write them off for playing a breakdown every now and then. I agree that Cynic is a more talented band, but the Faceless deserve some serious respect as well.

      so no, they aren’t generic deathcore bands (with the exclusion of JFAC’s last album… that was as generic deathcore as it gets). but, they still aren’t good.

        I get that rehashes suck, it actually bugs me to. I listen to old shit. I like old shit. I hear the rip offs. I don’t care. A good riff is a good riff, and a good song is a good song. You gotta just realize that after so many years originality is rare, if not completely instinct. Being a good musician and a good artist means you write music that is true to yourself, and its one in a million that its something mind blowingly new and innovative.
        What is true? Those from my generation (25 and under) are gonna say bands from 2019 are ripping off the bands they listened to growing up. The older say that those bands ripped off the ones from their generation, so on so forth. Some dude 10-15 years older than you probably says something along the same longs (assuming your not like 40 or something, in which case, why do you care?)

      The problem with booking gigs on a show of that nature is that it will most likely be bands that suck, it’s not like you’re ever going to see Insomnium or Agalloch on late night shows.
      If anything you’ll see more mainstream acts like Avenged Sevenfold or whatever else the kids listen to these days.

    That fact that she likes deathcore upgrades my indifference to fervent dislike. I’m no tr00 kvltist (OK, I listen to a lot of tr00 kvlt stuff, but I also like 80′s Metallica and Tarja era Nightwish), but deathcore is basically death metal dumbed down for moronic teenagers (like Miss Lovato) going through puberty whose raging hormones blind them to the utter shitness of the music.

    Deathcore (along with nu-metal and all other core sub genres with the exception of grindore) is a disgrace and an embarrassment to the great genre of metal.
