This certainly doesn't suck, but isn't AIC exclusively the Jerry Cantrell show now?

Dude! it's not exactly fair to compare artists whose vocals aren't quite on par in a live setting with a person who has arguably written some of the best vocal harmonies in modern music. It's Jerrfy Friggin Cantrell, he can by no means be used as a benchmark considering he is a living legend.

Don't get me wrong, you're totally right, they sound amazing, but even mentioning another singer in the same sentence as Jerry Cantrell is a dream come true for any singer, even if you are shitting on them. I've had the pleasure of seeing Cantrell's solo stuff live a few times and the AIC show's at the bowery & Nokia, ALL of which were amazing.

"And the moral of the story is: if you can’t do it live, don’t do it on record. Because I’ll just make fun of you later. I’m talking to you, Brandon Saller. Get it together."

Well, I'd like to see you play double bass and sing half as good as he can live. Obviously in the studio they'd split up the tracks, so that he can have cleaner vocals and keep his breath. They don't use machines to pump his vocals like other bands that whore syth's like Attack Attack! for instance...

"Note that not only does the band sound great, but that William DuVall and Jerry Cantrell both sound more or less the way they do on the recording of the track. In other words: they can actually sing. Without autotune. Amazing, right?

"And the moral of the story is: if you can’t do it live, don’t do it on record. "

Indeed.

Old pros at top of their games. Respect.

So if a band has some rhythm guitar track with a lead over top on their cd but only one guitar player they shouldn't play the song live? It does suck to be disappointing by a sloppy performance but what would you rather have, a good cd to listen to and a let down live, or no cd and nothing live?

I'm all for whatever makes a song good. If that involves studio trickery then fine. Granted it's become a crutch for lazy musicians but hey, if they can't accomplish their vision otherwise then so be it.

Good to see Duvall is playing guitar too.

Hell to the mother f*&king yes! I can't wait for this album.. AIC has done everything the right way so far.. Taking their time writing, recording.. making sure the chemistry is there.. using a great producer.. getting all that done BEFORE shopping for a deal.. building up fan anticipation with Studio Updates and Video Blogs.. and now.. dropping a great first song on us.. I'm so happy it looks like they're going to be one of the few bands that actually experiences a strong rebirth.
