NEW SHIT FROM NECROPHAGIST, WINDS OF PLAGUE

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 at 12:00pm by Axl Rosenberg

I’m not in the mood for fine prose right now, so let’s just do this thing.

Metal Nick at Metal Injection captured the below footage of Necrophagist playing a new song, “Dawn and Demise,” on the recently completed, MetalSucks co-sponsored Summer Slaughter tour. Because it was captured with one camera, no soundboard, etc., it’s not exactly up to the usual high standards of Metal Injection, but it should keep all the Necrophreaks satisfied for the time being.

And speaking of Summer Slaughter: Winds of Plague, who also did the tour, have a new song streaming on their MySpace page. Entitled “Forged in Fire,” the song will appear on the band’s new album, The Great Stone War, which Century will release on August 11. The track also features a guest spot from Martin Stewart, guitarist for WOP labelmates, Terror.

This is the second track on The Great Stone War and the first song proper; it’s also a really good indication of the direction in which WOP have gone. In other words: if you dig this tune, you’ll probably dig the whole record, and if you don’t, well…

I’m really diggin the new WOP stuff.
The new Necrophagist sounds like, well, Necrophagist.
    Which is great!

After reading the WoP interview with Sgt.D, I don’t hate them anymore. But they still make really really average Deathcore.

  3. Wow, you tell us that you’ve heard the new Megadeth and Winds of Plague on the same day.

I’m guessing that before the day is over, you’ll be bragging about hearing the new Immortal.

Necrophagist aren’t too bad. I find some of their stuff really good. What I don’t understand is how this site can make fun of a shit band like Attack Attack! then promote more shit like WoP. Both bands sound like shit to my ears.

    • The best things Winds of Plague ever did was the opening track to their last CD, which is just the synth strings with a breakdown over it. Don’t really like them, their vocals don’t do it for me. and that dude from terror showed why he is the guitar player and not a vocalist.

Regardless though…there is more talent required to play a single WOP song than an entire attack attack CD. To compare that band to any band with at least a bit of musical talent is just rude.

YAY MORE UNINSPIRED TECH DEATH METAL

Yup, sounds like Necrophagist… good stuff. I’d like to hear an actual studio recording of it, of course…

  7. Loving the new WoP, hopefully the album keeps diverse though and doesnt alllll sound the fucking same…in my opinion, the keyboards are the most important thing in that band

  8. Malacoda says:
