NEW DECAPITATED DRUMMER HAS SOME BIG SHOES TO FILL

Friday, July 31st, 2009 at 12:30pm by Axl Rosenberg

Per a posting on their MySpace blog, Decapitated have named Kerim “Krimh” Lechner from Thorns of Ivy as their new drummer.

As you probably recall, the band’s previous drummer, Witold “Vitek” Kieltyka was killed in a tragic car collision back in 2007. He was only 23 years old. Vocalist Adrian “Covan” Kowanek also sustained serious injuries in the accident – injuries which, as far I know, he still has not fully recovered.

Shortly after the accident, the band announced plans to soldier on and signed with Nuclear Blast. Then, earlier this, guitarist Waclaw “Vogg” Kieltyka announced that he was soldiering on with the Decapitated name, even if it meant hiring a new vocalist. At the time I questioned the logic of such a move, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least curious to hear a new Decapitated album.

Here’s some footage of Krimh playing. The dude certainly has chops, even if it is going to be hard to shake the memory of Vitek, whose drumming was a huge part of Decapitated’s sound.

I have faith in this guy.

  4. Ready to see Decapitated get back in action.

  5. God Dam says:

I saw this guy maybe a year back on youtube. I liked his drumming so much I was planning on hiring him to play on my record well fuck. It probably no difference anyway just to lay some drum tracks.

Wasn’t Spinal Tap’s seventh drummer decapitated? It was a terrible freak accident involving an aerosol can of Cheez Whiz.

I’ve seen this guy all over youtube. He’s good, and he can play guitar and bass equally well. He’s very very talented. The only thing I notice is he lacks power in his attack, so he’ll have to rely on triggering live.

Ain’t nothin wrong with triggering per se, it’s definitely needed in some cases, but his hands have like no power it seems.

That’s exactly what I always thought about his playing. It’s as if he is lightly playing but he is still a good solid drummer. This dude covered Sikth’s “Bland Street Bloom” so he has my support.

I fucking love Decapitated. Vitek was my favorite death metal drummer .R.I.P. I hope they all get back to 110%. I believe this guys gonna fill Viteks shoes niclely.

Oh man I am so psyched to hear any new news about Decapitated. This drummer seems real solid. I think Vitek would be proud.

On a related note, is there any more info on what exactly Covans condition really is? I mean is he even conscious right now, is he moving around, etc?

Sweet, he’s got some serious chops, looking forward to a new album.

his foot work seems to be really solid (as far as i can tell) but yeah he’s got no power in his hands weak ass snare shots and such a great sounding snare : ( defiently interested in hearing this dude with the rest of the band

Krimh seems to be top-knotch. He will honor the memory of Vitek with his exceptional skill and a fantastic Decapitated album.

  13. Tyler says:

I watched a couple of his vids a few months back, the guy’s talented. Good for him.

  14. Howl says:

As good as he is, learning to (just about) play Vitek’s stuff and being able to write as originally and mindblowingly as Vitek are two totally different things. I’ll wait until they’ve recorded with the new line up before making any judgments.

Great posting! I’ve never see nice post as this.
